I tried to upgrade Catalyst from 12.1 to 12.8, hoping to improve my crunch times. When I installed 12.8, I noticed that my GPU/Mem preset of 900/300 showed in my preset list on the left side of Catalyst but the lowest number all the way on the left of the memory slider was 900. I did not want all the excess heat that involved so I downgraded back to 12.1. The reinstall of 12.1 recognized the 900/300 preset properly but all my WUs promptly errored out after a fraction of a second. I re-upgraded back to 12.8 and am crunching OK again. The 900/300 preset still shows on the left of Catalyst but the lowest slider setting is still 900. Does anyone have any ideas how to get Catalyst 12.8 to properly use the 900/300 preset? |

I can't answer your specific question but once you get rid of all of your current tasks, thru no new work, you can then downgrade back to ver 12.1. |

Didn't think to get rid of current tasks, but it was the same bunch throughout anyway. But I'll try that and let you know. |

Just apply the stored profile, and the slider scale should expand to encompass the mem clock stored in it. (You might have to apply it twice to actually set the mem clock too.) |

Just got done downgrading, restarting, and downloading all new work. Same problem, all errored out immediately. Here is an example: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/result.php?resultid=321029683 |

This is exactly what I am unable to do. The slider scale does not expand to the range recognized in the preset. It remains at 900-1300MHz. |

This is what I have in my profile now, everything looks just like it was before: -<Feature name="MemoryClockTarget_0"> <Property name="Want_0" value="30000"/> <Property name="Want_1" value="30000"/> <Property name="Want_2" value="30000"/> |

Here is an example: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/result.php?resultid=321029683 I saw this: Using device 0 on platform 0 Failed to find number of devices (-1): CL_DEVICE_NOT_FOUND and am thinking you need to restart your pc. Windows can NOT reset the gpu unless you restart the whole pc. If it can't find the gpu it will error out as it did. |

I'm wondering if the 12.8 install created another ATI/AMD folder somewhere. If so, there might be a file in it that needs to be edited like the profile that ver. 12.1 used. |

Did you keep your 'settings' when switching to the new version? I think it asks you about that during the install process doesn't it? If not can you just make a new set of personalized settings? |

I'm wondering if the 12.8 install created another ATI/AMD folder somewhere. If so, there might be a file in it that needs to be edited like the profile that ver. 12.1 used. Got it figured out. The install of 12.8 changed a value in the memory speed section of my pre-set profile. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling 12.1 that value stayed, that's why reloading the profile didn't work. I found the value that was wrong then reinstalled 12.8 and corrected the profile. Now everything is working the way I want it to. |
