I just installed a used Sapphire Toxic HD 4870 to run MilkyWay and the executable is crashing (Windows popup message). I run Vista 64-bits on AMD Phenom X4. Catalyst version is 12.4.

The CPU 4 cores have been running without problem for a while now.

You could try upgrading to the latest version of the AMD software, 13.1 I think, but I am NOT sure it would help. It says on this line:
2013-02-23 15:53:52 | | ATI GPU 1: (not used) ATI Radeon HD 2300/2400/3200 (RV610) (CAL version 1.4.1720, 256MB, 224MB available, 125 GFLOPS peak)

that your gpu is unused. I am guessing this is because of the only 256mb of onboard gpu memory. System ram CANNOT be used to extend gpu memory when crunching, it is what it is as far as on board memory goes.

As far as the other gpu in the system it should work IF it is a dual precision card:
2013-02-23 15:53:52 | | ATI GPU 0: ATI RV770 (CAL version 1.4.1720, 1024MB, 992MB available, 2496 GFLOPS peak)

But what you may need to do is to play with some config files to make it ignore gpu1 and only use gpu0 to crunch with. Berkeley is down right now but I think your options are here:
[url[boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration[/url]

Here is an example of the kind of file needed:
<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<exclude_gpu>
<url>http://http:/moowrap.net/</url>
<device_num>0</device_num>
</exclude_gpu>
<exclude_gpu>
<url>http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/</url>
<device_num>1</device_num>
</exclude_gpu>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

You can see that it is excluding gpu0 from Moo and excluding gpu1 from Collatz. That way both gpu's in the system crunch, but for different projects. You could exclude the one gpu from MilkyWay and the just not bother with the one that will crunch.

Got it working. I ran the executable manually and got a more meaningful message saying opencl.dll could not be found. From another forum I read the dll was to be found in System32 and SysWOW64. It was missing in System23.

Now I have another issue which is that the manager does not return completed work and does not request any either. I have to manually force it. Activity rules are to run at all time, on GPU at all time and with the internet connection available at all time. I tried to uninstall Boinc, clean up all traces and re-install. Still does not fetch by itself. I wonder if it is because I only want to run on the GPU?

Your computers are hidden so I can't look, what version of Boinc are you running? Are you running other Boinc projects too? I do not think the problem is because you want to use the gpu only, I do that on several machines and don't have a problem.

I am running only MW on this computer and LHC on another. I have pretty much every possible setup through the Preferences fetaure but I finally elected to use a solution seen somewhere else on this forum. I setup a scheduled batch job which executes an update every now and then. Completed units are sent back to MW and new units are downloaded.
