Haha, can't catch a break...Cosmo comes back online with work and MW runs out... I have 50+ WUs that have been trying to upload to Cosmo for 3 days and 250+ sitting in pending and I can't even get to the home page. Don't know how anyone could get new WUs from there. I found a project with a load of WU's waiting to send with rather short due dates (3 days) and have switched to see how their server is doing. They have a 64 bit Linux app, and it has a few bells and whistles missing (like progress indicator only every 10%). Google "superlink@technion" and take it from there. I miss watching the progress meter, but work is work. Voltron |

Haha, can't catch a break...Cosmo comes back online with work and MW runs out... I managed to get about 1500 Wu's sent back this morning to the Cosmo Project that had already been Reported before Scott turned things off again, probably have that many still trying to Upload to the Project too. That's seems to be the mode of operation there, just turn things off until everything catches back up & then turn things back on again and wait for things to logjam again. Why nothing really gets fixed there I don't know but the problems have kept popping up at the Project for some time now. It runs smooth for a while then all of a sudden things start to unravel. But this problem you could see coming & was getting worse & worse & everybody tried to tell Scott about it but nothing was done until things just fell completely apart and we're in catch up mode now once again ... :) |

I am just happy that the ul/dl here stopped jamming my system and I can crunch again.....for now. Looks like I'm getting some too on a few Box's, I didn't check all of them but the few I did had MWay Wu's. Reisel Seive & Cosmo are doing a fine job of jamming my systems so they probably won't even notice if MWay does too. |

I'm not sure what's going on that you guys are saying there's no work at the moment. I have searches running and I don't think that all the WUs went out already, but I guess it's possible. I'm starting two new searches (gs_3720282 and gs_3721282) in hopes it fixes the problem. In response to the longer WU problem, I give you WUs much longer than what you've been experiencing. I'm not quite sure how much longer, so let me know how they are performing; I don't want you crunching so slow it's disheartening now. :) As far as a faster/better/stronger/improved server... I believe we are going to have to talk about this... the last I checked we had 16,000+ machines working for us and we may have reached our capacity with our current setup. No promises, but I will definitely bring this up at our next meeting. Hope this addresses your concerns and the problems. ~Nate~ |

My P4M 1.8Ghz has been running one for almost 4 hours now and is only 13% into it. Think you could cut those down by about half? My P4's are not going to make the deadlines unless it is increased. I would say to increase the deadline to 7 or 10 days, and/or go from 20 to 10/12 wu's per core. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Lomger? I'll say. 17,000+ seconds on my Q9450 at 3.0Ghz!!!! Thanks for the quick feedback! I'll cut this down, I had a feeling it'd be a little overkill after I had started it. Travis is a conference for the next couple days, so I can't change the deadlines or anything until I talk to him, as I'm not sure how to do this. ~Nate~ |

Lomger? I'll say. 17,000+ seconds on my Q9450 at 3.0Ghz!!!! You just need to Tune that Q9450 up a bit Labbie, the Q9450 I have does them under 7500 Seconds ... :) ... Of course it's running at 3.66Ghz but still your Q9450 should be able to run them faster than 17,000 Seconds. |

Lomger? I'll say. 17,000+ seconds on my Q9450 at 3.0Ghz!!!! I like them the way they are now. IMO the only thing that needs to be adjusted is the deadline. Join Support science! Joinc Team BOINC United now! |

Kinda like them the way they are now myself, I can run MilkyWay exclusively if I want to as long as the Wu Limit stays @ 20 ... :) |

Lomger? I'll say. 17,000+ seconds on my Q9450 at 3.0Ghz!!!! I've had it up to 3.2Ghz, but this machine is not a dedicated cruncher and the other things that it does really doesn't like it OC'd that high. I'm thinking of replacing the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard with the one that MSattler runs over on SETI, I don't remember the model number off the top of my head. I think the MB is really the limiting factor here. Plus, I'm running WinXP on it. That probably accounts for some of the slowness. ;) In a couple of months I'll build a totally dedicated cruncher and try out Linux on that one. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Lomger? I'll say. 17,000+ seconds on my Q9450 at 3.0Ghz!!!! D'oh, Yes, of course, I forgot I was running Linux on that Box too, but then you didn't say you was running Windows either so I didn't figure the OS into the equation of how my Q9450 could run the same Wu's over Twice as fast ... :) |

Lomger? I'll say. 17,000+ seconds on my Q9450 at 3.0Ghz!!!! No problem. Like you said, I didn't state the OS and probably should have. But I did remember from some previous posts of yours that you are running some flavor of Linux, so I did take that into account. ;) Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |
