Hello I'm new here, recently joined the project. :) I do not understand how this project works. - I press the update button - Getting workunits, but no download any files! (only 5 files are in my computer: 1 ".exe", 2 ".starts", 2 ".prmtrs") - The workunits are completed - No upload any files! But to report workunits and get credit. If not downloaded anything and does not upload result of the calculation work, what happens? What are do my computer? Sorry for my bad english, i use translater. |

Hello The files are put into a folder on your C: drive in a Boinc/Projects/MilkyWay folder and then under another set of folders, one for each unit, this is assuming you let Boinc use the default folders when it first installed. The folders are normally hidden as they are 'system' folders. You are getting and returning units just fine, as you finish units they will be sent back to MilkyWay and new units will be downloaded, it is all automatic. I can tell you are getting and returning units because I can see your pc under your name, click on my name to the left and you will see my pc's, although it could be blank as I haven't crunched here in a while so you may have to click on 'All Computers' to see them. Once I can see your pc I can click on Tasks and see the ones you have downloaded, crunched and returned and the ones still 'in progress'. Your pc seems to be doing just fine. There should be no tasks under my account as they 'age out' of the database to keep it easier to search and display. You wouldn't want to wait while it searched someones entire life history just to show some workunits. It only shows the recent relevant units and then purges those to another off-line database after x amount of time. At that point they are only relevant to the project anyway. Welcome to the World of crunching!! |

Results are uploaded, during reporting. Check your profile->tasks and click on completed task (left-most link). Program output will be there. |

Results are uploaded, during reporting. Check your profile->tasks and click on completed task (left-most link). Program output will be there. So is this normal (i mean is that it does not upload file)? The full result of the calculation work uploaded during the report? This is the full output?: Likelihood time = 0.924754 s <background_integral> 0.000032421142750 </background_integral> <stream_integral> 52.324859380519321 355.802271021339100 409.833396361819500 </stream_integral> <background_likelihood> -2.974333051243883 </background_likelihood> <stream_only_likelihood> -29.836069881411763 -4.143970071060032 -11.757525768020063 </stream_only_likelihood> <search_likelihood> -2.772945905441302 </search_likelihood> |

Results are uploaded, during reporting. Check your profile->tasks and click on completed task (left-most link). Program output will be there. Uploading is a 2 step process, first as soon as you finish the unit a note is sent to the project telling them you finished it successfully, then when you get more work a final report of your results is sent. Sometimes this is done at the same time, other times it can be at widely spaced times, depends on the project. At some projects the final report or your results of multiple units could be sent all at once, other projects prefer to get it 1 unit at a time. PrimeGrid is one project that gets the whole thing as soon as you finish the unit. I do not remember how MilkyWay does it, but I think it is a 2 step process. Thru your "RAC", or recent average credit, you can keep track of how your work is progressing thru the project. If you think of it as a speedometer it may help, you will eventually get up to your max speed but it can take a couple of weeks or so. At that point you should then be able to maintain that rate of returns, credit granting, getting new units, etc, etc rate. |
