The ONLY way I've ever seen a 6900 series gpu run is with the 13.2 version of the drivers, you may just be out of luck here. It is a project thing, NOT on your end.

Is it because the project hasn't updated code or is it because the driver somehow lost support/functionality that it used to have? Basically who should I complain to? Back with 13.2 drivers, as you stated. I was crunching like crazy. turning out a wU every 1.5 minutes. Ever since then, my GPU has been idle and I haven't been able to help further the project.

It's the Project who hasn't been keeping up with the latest advances. It could be the loss of the their NSF grant and need for donations or something else, but they need to get some programmers on it. Unfortunately programmers aren't normally free, so we are back to the loss of the grant money.

Some of us are helping by also crunching Bitcoin Utopia MilkyWay units, these are units that raise bitcoins that then get donated to MilkyWay, and other things too. MilkyWay has it's own 'campaign' though, so if you wish you could put your 6950 over there and help MilkyWay in that way. BU's url is:
http://www.bitcoinutopia.net/bitcoinutopia/

Since it's a Boinc Project you do get credits too and they have apps for your cpu, gpu or even a specialized asic miner to generate bitcoins for MilkyWay. Specialized asic miners can range from around 10 dollars to well over a thousand dollars. Since July we are about 1/4 of the way to the goal.

Well after my computer sitting idle for about 6 months, I just upgraded it to an FX-8350 running factory clocks and my old GPU. I used to be 1.5 min per WU, now I'm at 23s for every Modified Fit WU. I used to utilize more of my GPU though (97%). Now with a much better CPU I'm only using about 35% of my GPU, max. Strange. But hey, I'm back to crunching away, so I'm happy. :-)

in order to gain 99% load on your GPU while crunching modified fit units, you ll have to create an app.xml that allows for your GPU to crunch more than 1 wu at a time.

<app_config>

<app>

<name>milkyway</name>
<max_concurrent>4</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>

<gpu_usage>0.25</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.75</cpu_usage>

</gpu_versions>

</app>

<app>
<name>milkyway_separation__modified_fit</name>
<max_concurrent>4</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>

<gpu_usage>0.25</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.75</cpu_usage>

</gpu_versions>

</app>

</app_config>
-----

this is mine. it is currently set to crunch 4 wus at a time (max_concurrent 4; gpu_usage 0.25). feel free to change those values to your liking. more i would suggest trying 2 or 3 at once to start with and see how it goes.

simply copy this to an editor file, and save it under boincdata - projects - milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway as app_config.xml
