I have a laptop computer onto which I have loaded BOINC and MW@H. I find that the computer has an AMD/ATI GPU, not used by MW@H.

My problem is that the MW@H is only asking for GPU work units, and not receiving any:

08/06/2016 07:48:19 | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
08/06/2016 07:48:19 | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU
08/06/2016 07:48:22 | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

How do I convince MW@H to forget about the (in this case) useless GPU and to ask for CPU work units? I have tried suspending GPU operation, to no avail.

One thing you could do is click on Your Account, then Preferences for this project MilkyWay@Home preferences, and edit you preferences to NOT get gpu units, these settings:

Use ATI GPU
Enforced by version 6.10+ no
Use NVIDIA GPU
Enforced by version 6.10+ no

Be sure to click update at the bottom of the page to save the changes. Then do a manual update on your laptop and it should at least stop trying to get any gpu units.

Are you crunch any other projects with that laptop? If so that could be the problem, Boinc may think you have too much work from them to get any work from MW as it would be returned late anyway, meaning you would get zero credits for doing the work. IF that's true, that you are running other project(s) too on the laptop either reduce your cache to a max of one day, or just focus on one project at a time, running one project out of work, thru no new tasks, and then starting crunching on a different project say every 2 to 4 weeks. You could then swap back and forth on your own any time you choose.
