If Travis's comments on the home page are able to be completed, subjsct to further problems cropping up, then 2.00pm EST is the same as 7.00pm UTC.

I will look in an hour after 19.00 hours (UTC) and see if the upgraded client is available.

Hmmm, 19:00 UTC is over... seems, the app is a little bit late.

*grin*

I had some troubles getting the app to compile on OSX. Now it's compiling, however i'm getting a random seg fault :P I want to see what's causing that before starting any workunits and having everyone's machine crash -- the windows version compiled and didn't seg fault, but the fact that something isn't working has me worried.

Once i figure out what's going on I'll try starting some work units for the new app, unless the windows version needs a recompile -- Dave is doing that since i don't have a windows machine, and he had to leave. So if it's not just an OSX only problem, then ya'll might have to wait until tomorrow.

It has been uploaded to the server however it's up to Travis when he activates it since there's bound to be problems with it.

I am curious why OSX comes before Linux as Linux has the 2nd largest user base. ???? O_o

Maybe since Travis uses osx computers?

that's correct. we both use OSX machines. i actually have to virtualize windows to compile the windows builds.

With the "see how badly things crash" sentiment being expressed, are you planning on only sending the new app to people who have enabled "Run test applications?" through the project preferences?

Thanks...

Where is this facility?

I cannot see it in either "Computing Preferences" or my "Community Preferences".

Look in the MilkyWay Preferences. ;-)
But since there is no "test" app so far it's not necessary yet.

Nevertheless the idea from Brian isn't that bad, could be used for future apps I think. :-)

I have seen that before, but not really explored the project preferences bit.

Oh, there are much more projects out there who use this function already.
The server software supports it now anyway, but I think the standard if you build a server with it is, that the function is hidden.

OSX is before linux simply because the machine i do 99% of my work on is OSX. We're testing the new application now (which i'm willing to bet is bound to crash quite frequently until we get all the kinks worked out). So we've got windows and osx up on the server right now, if things look good we'll compile the linux and other versions as well.

do you know what we need to do to set that up server side? i didn't know we could do that.. but for now i'll be sending out limited batches of workunits for testing until i'm confident enough to start up the assimilator and have it automatically generate work.
