I had difficulties getting the driver to load . installed one then she loaded fine . will I need an XML file to get 2 to run at the same time and can I run 2 work units per GPU ... and is a dummy plug needed ? diagram for it too .

I don't run dual 6970s in 1 machine, but I have 2 running on separate machines. And one machine has no monitor attached, so I don't think a dummy plug is needed.

I have Catalyst 15.7.1 and use Sapphire Trixx to set 925 core, 1375 mem, 1.200 volt, +20% power and fans @ 60%. I run 2 WUs per card and temps stay low to mid 70s C.

You might need to run an app_config.xml file to tell it 2 WUs per card. Also may need to add a line in the cc_config.xml file for <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>

Here is my app_config.xml for both machines running 2 WUs on a 6970:

<app_config>
<app>
<name>milkyway</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>.50</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>.25</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

And here is my cc_config.xml as well for both machines:

<cc_config>
<options>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
<start_delay>30</start_delay>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<ncpus>2</ncpus>
</options>
<log_flags>
</log_flags>
</cc_config>

Sometimes you need a dummy plug and sometimes you don't but here's how to make your own...

That's great!

2 WUs per card is the sweet spot for the 6970 after much trial and error I found. I think you'll be more than happy. I run mine at 925/1375 with output of 300-330k ppd. See my previous post below for my settings. On 1 machine I don't leave any free cores since it's only a dual core rig and I run WCG on it as well. The other is a Q6600 like yours and I leave 2 cores free since it's a work PC and it runs WCG too.

I see you're teamless...Looking me up ;)

Good luck and happy crunching!

After a long absence from MW since my 6970 didn't work I figured I'd give it another shot. It seem to be working now but my GPU seems to run at 98% for 5 seconds then off for 5. Is there something I can do to correct this, I'm on a Windows 10 64 bit machine?
