Hello ! I launched BOINC with my new GPU today, and I noticed that most GPU tasks freeze at 80% and then loop back to 0%, do that 5 times and then it completes. It severely delay every GPU computings, since every tasks could be done under 15 seconds (whereas it now takes over a minute). I haven't crunched on BOINC in general for a few months now, and I don't know if this is an actual feature I'm not aware of, or if it has something to do with the fact that the RX 480 is, to that date, the newest AMD GPU out there. BOINC is freshly installed, and appart from CPU configuration, nothing has been done with it. I don't either really know what to post here to help you solve this, so feel free to ask for various informations about stuff on my PC :) Cheers, - Camille |

Feature Back in November 2016 ?? Jake consolidated 5 tasks into one task so the servers would not get overloaded, (Which they were) It solved a major problem The restart is just a feature of this consolidation. We only have short tasks now so the consolidation does give 5 times the credit from before the consolidation. |

That's normal behaviour. There are several computing tasks bundled into each WU nowadays, but their apparent progress isn't one linear progression. Instead, each step starts at 0% and finishes at 20% more than the previous step, so you'll se 0..20, then 0..40, 0..60, 0..80, and finally 0..100%. This is actually a small ovesight partially rectified by the sequence of finish values, but we're still waiting for a similar sequence of start values (albeit not too impatiently, it's just a cosmetic issue). |
