I am not sure whether the 300 WU limit is still operating. It will of course. There is nothing what would change that. So every host will given out a maximum of credits per day with the new app when it's fast enough to crunch all 300 WUs away... Member of BOINC@Heidelberg and ATA! My BOINCstats |

There is nothing what would change that. Of course it would be possible for the project to raise that limit. But I doubt they will do it ;) |

When's the source forthcoming? I've got some PARISC machines I'd like to put to use. |

Well the new app is pretty much done (though i doubt it will be as fast as Miksop's). We're just having an issue with writing a new assimilator to handle it and an error where it doesn't output the the right file. But it should be out very soon. And I got a note from Dave Anderson yesterday saying that we're already over the limit on credits and we should lower them so I don't think we can remove that limit but I'll talk to some people. BOINC-manager says there's a parse error in the xml, but... Sorry, don't know how that small error slipped in. But apparently it runs either way (and I can't edit the first post anymore). Strangely enough, the BoincManager 5.10.xx does not give me this error at my test setup. |

I think Dave is talking about the credit per work not about limits... Are you sure he knows that you are granting more credits for the same work (wu) to the people who crunch it in 10000 seconds than the pleople whom does that in 10? I think than Dave Anderson is refering to that... Made the credits lower with the stock app but don't put limits for the optimized. Logan. Well this is what it says. I mean it says general goal. We'll have to talk to our admins and see what the consensus is. FYI. You may need to adjust your credit granting. The general goal is to maintain a 1:1 ratio with SETI@home: http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_cpcs.php Currently milkyway@home is 1.922:1, and this could get higher if there's an optimized app. Dave Przybylo MilkyWay@home Developer Department of Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute |

A bit early, but I think it does not make much difference to the crunchers from the Americas and the time may be more convenient for our European friends (sorry for the Australians). Thanx, Milksop, Crunch3r and other guys! |

Dave Anderson was tell you that your project credits are over his measure... for ALL. Not only the optimized... It's a basis question. If a Pentium 4 can have more credits/hour with stock app than Dave's (Anderson) measure, you will punish only the penryns? (for example) I think there is something wrong.... Logan. Good for the science you posted this application, shame it kinda ruins keeping track of how much work you're doing (cause you get way too much credit). But of course the science is way more important, so good job! |

Well this is what it says. I mean it says general goal. We'll have to talk to our admins and see what the consensus is. This from DA @seti who has encouraged optimized clients for years and is constantly revising the credits lower because of it and complaining to other projects because they remain the same instead of lowering their credits! While the goal is encouraged, not all projects match them. 2:1 against seti is a bit over doing it, but it doesn't necessarily mean you can't lower to 1.25 or 1.5:1 to seti. |

Well this is what it says. I mean it says general goal. We'll have to talk to our admins and see what the consensus is. DA tried this at Riesl, and was shot down, the Admins there refused to bow to the "GREAT" D.A. If he forces it due to an optimized app, then he would also have to enforce it for his own pet project because SETI also has an optimized app. Optimized apps are optional, and many times this has been discussed with regards to SETI and their optimized app. The reasoning behind this, and I know that DA would deny it. but SETI reduced their credit a while back and continues to do so - so participants leave SETI in search for more honest paying projects. In an effort to bring participants back to SETI they want projects to adhere to the SETI credit standards. This would not have been a problem for SETI had they not reduced the credit in the first place, and had done what they said they promised they would not do, and that was that they would not reduce credit when the newer applications were released. They fubared. There is no reason to bow down to a dictator. |

And I got a note from Dave Anderson yesterday saying that we're already over the limit on credits and we should lower them What limits are these? I know DA wants us all to crunch SETI and nothing else, but I'm unaware of any published 'limits'. Please enlighten. Al. |

Just the note. I already posted the exact email i received. We are out of line with the "general guideline" of 1:1 credit match with SETI. I do not have much personal experience with David Anderson, so I can't say anything in favor or against him. The best response to D.A. would be to politely tell him to keep his nose out of your project. It's none of his business how you dole out credits for work done within your own project. |

Maybe you could ask him exactly where this "general guideline" is published so that we can all decide if we wish to continue with this project or any other BOINC project? I'm really struggling to see why Kredit Konsiderations are actively blocking real work being done. I don't give a Monkey's Toss about "Kredit", I just want to get some useful work done. DC is the way to go for sure. BOINC is now a Totalitarian State. Al. |

*cough*screw Seti*cough*, Ahem. Seti has been all about getting the more credits than any other project for a long time. They promote using quick apps that give very high credit. NanoHive was higher than mw is and most other projects. It should be up to each project and their crunchers. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |
