Well, WCG over at Krembil announced that the restart was postponed to May 9, what a pity. The Denis Project just started back up again, TNGrid is still doing Covid stuff, or will be again soon if they are sending out tasks for another disease that needs solving, Rosetta has tasks as does it's Beta Project Albert although Ralph does NOT have very many tasks at the moment. Einstein has lots of tasks but and it's Beta Project Albert doesn't. MLC has tasks on a semi-regular basis as does Minecraft though they seem to be a bit intermittent as well. Universe has a ton of tasks as does Prime Grid, though it's Beta Project Composite Grid does not at the moment, and Collatz and Moo Wrapper have lots of both cpu and gpu tasks. In short there are LOTS of other Projects, even Wanless if you have Linux pc's or Mac's, that have LOTS and LOTS of tasks that need crunching meaning our pc's do not need to be idling while MilkyWay works thru these problems, Gaia also has tasks. And this is not the entire list of Projects needing our help as there are some no so well known projects like SiDock that has tasks as well. |

What alternate Universe do you occupy Mikey? Minecraft hasn't had any work since last November. Project is kaput. Don't trust the server status numbers. They are almost never truly accurate on ANY BOINC project. |

Everything is working fine here on MW ... Well, almost 5 years ago you made similar observations: https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=4150&postid=66501 Has your view changed since then or did you just become reconciled to it? |

Another sarcastic post about N-Body: In the last 7 hours I was able to do around 800 tasks (multy core) without even touching the rigs to get more. No "update" requests needed to keep the input queue filled with 100 tasks per rig. So, they were running smoothly - without intervention on my side. Some were marked "valid" and some "validation inconclusive". As far as I can see, the queue of "validation inconclusive" is producing "valid" tasks as time goes on. Some are _0, _1, _2 or even _3. Everything seems fine to me. That's all I need. |

What do you think of all these tasks previous to April 20? https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=412567034 https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=413057030 https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=413674439 https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=414290323 I've got other 3000 like them |

What do you think of all these tasks previous to April 20? Tom tried various methods to reduce the huge backlog of N-body tasks that seemed to result from the recent server problems; the last (and apparently successful) attempt was referred to in the Nbody WU Flush News post, and it is the reason for those "Didn't need" retry tasks. That's the ""Why?" -- the real question is "What happens next?" -- rather than typing yet another magnum opus :-) I'll refer you to my earlier reply on this topic in this very thread... I have a much smaller number of tasks stuck in this state, so I have been monitoring this and will continue to do so -- if these tasks are still stuck in that state by the end of April, Tom will need to tell us what is going to happen next... Cheers - Al. |

-- if these tasks are still stuck in that state by the end of April, Tom will need to tell us what is going to happen next... That's assuming he has had time to figure that out, now that things seem to be running MUCH better, one of my own pc's got and finished and even got credits for some n-body tasks. If I were him I would put the new guy or get some IT guru in Class, or even the Head of the IT Department, to come give him some ideas on how to update the system and then start figuring out if what they say makes sense and then put out a call for donations to do it. The just past problem took FAR too long to get fixed and WAAAY too much individual attention to get things back to where they are right now. |

My validation inconclusive's haven't dropped in 4 days now. I had hopes for improvement. I know others have more so I won't complain about how many but mine are like many of yours .... all 920 of them are hanging tough and not going away. Bill F |

My validation inconclusive's haven't dropped in 4 days now. I had hopes for improvement. None?! man that's bad. on 4/23 I had 11,105 n body inconclusive(almost all have 'don't need' for the wingman). checked just now, and am down to 11,096. Wohoo! But I don't think any of the credited ones had 'don't need' status for the wingman. Just not feelin' the love in the nbody realm right now.....LOL PS just now noticed a third green star! |

I'm not actually upset in any way, these things can happen when one has to manage a BOINC project and a lot of effort is being put in solving the server issues which is well appreciatted, so no complaint. 90% of the nbody units crunched after April 20 are validated so kudos to the project manager What do you think of all these tasks previous to April 20? |

My validation inconclusive's haven't dropped in 4 days now. I had hopes for improvement. I checked some of yours and they said that you are not waiting on a wingman just for the Server to do it's thing to process your tasks and give you the credits for them. I wonder if Tom needs to kick that part of the Server or you are just waiting thru a few Million other tasks just like yours? If so people still doing tasks is the problem as the list never grows shorter although yours should be heading to top of the queue. |

I also get this problem. Now there are 1000+ unvalidated tasks on my page It seems that NBody tasks are not getting validated at all these days. |

I also get this problem. Now there are 1000+ unvalidated tasks on my pageYou are not alone in wondering! However, it's just NBody tasks with the most recent result marked as "Don't need" that aren't getting validated or, at least, that's my experience (and [it appears] that of several other users who have posted...) There are lots of other messages in both this thread and the "NBody WU Flush" thread in the News forum that discuss this in more detail, so both an explanation and speculation on when (if ever) those stuck work units will unblock can be found :-) (I posted a longer reply on this topic earlier today, and others have contributed too.) It will sort out eventually, either by the work-units unsticking (because the system eventually creates another retry...) or by them being discarded completely. We have no choice but to wait and see, no matter how frustrating that might be :-( ... Cheers -- Al. |

I seem to have a small but growing number of Separation tasks in the inconclusive queue. |

Discarding them completely would be totally demoralizing, hopefully that is not the choice! I got a dollar here that sez that almost all of the so called 'don't need' work will convert to validated, if Tom can get wing men assigned. Or force the server to deal with it some how. I think I have at least 11,000 in that state, and I am sure there are others with large amounts as well, probably even larger. It would be an absolute shame to throw the good results down the toilette! It's not the credit, which is minuscule compared to separation work, it's the science. It was the galaxy collision video that got me hooked on MW in the first place, and that was an n body product. MW is the only project I work on. |
