I get it in netscape but not internet explorer.

Shows up in safari and firefox too. Silly IE doesn't play well with others.

Oddly enough, I can't get it to show up. I'm using Firefox 3.1b2 on Windows 7 x64. I can get to the favicon manually, but Firefox doesn't pick it up. Playing with other browsers, Opera doesn't work, but Safari and IE8 work nicely. Same with Firefox 3.0.5 on Vista x64.

Yeah, the icon doesn't show for me either.

I'm using Firefox (3.0.5) on Win XP. Maybe I have to close the browser down and come back to force it to update?

Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope.

Depending on your theme it could look a bit dark.

Oddly enough, that works. Guess Firefox keeps a list of what websites don't have a favicon.ico at the root to keep from constantly hitting it, although it can cause some confusion. Opera still wouldn't show it, as that was with a totally clean cache and fresh start. Oh well, I use Firefox as my default browser.

EDIT: Heh, just looked at my earlier post, where I started off with "Oddly enough" too. Need to get out of patterns...

Fantastic! I can't believe my favicon is on every page of MilkyWay :)

Thanks DoctorNow for organizing the voting and to Cori for the original idea.

Thanks to everyone for voting, and to Travis/Dave for placing the favicon on the MW site.

And thanks to me for making the favicon.ico and winning the competition ;)

If you don't see the favicon, try deleting the temporary internet files in your internet browser and restarting your browser.

IE7;

Tools, Internet Options, 'General' tab, Delete, Delete all...,
check 'Also delete files and settings stored by add-ins', Yes, OK,
close IE7 browser, open IE7 browser, navigate to MilkeyWay,

Voila! works every time.

Depending on your theme it could look a bit dark.

I'll take a look at lightening it up a bit.

I've had a go, and it may well be more visible on a darker theme, but I'm not sure if it's an improvement.
I think the current version is more like the real Milky Way.

Here's the 'lighter' version;

Here's the current version;

Well it of course looks differently to the eye in a thread with a white background than it would with a black background. So in the thread I can see a slight improvement. Might be more in the browser.

And did you notice something else? Beat that!

On reflection I think that my favicon looks fine on a dark background;

You got me there.

Congrats if it's true ;)
