Posted in the wrong thread..

According to this site: http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_cpcs.php

The milkyway app is 1.6 x faster that the seti stock app. Cutting by 1/2 will put you in the sub 1. range.

I would seriously reconsider giving out less than the seti stock app. This is still an alpha project no?

Hahaha...

A few hours ago... "What can I do to optimize my code? Where are my bugs? What is wrong in my app? can you help me, optimizers...?"

When the optimizers answered his questions... a few minutes after... Well... Now I'm going to reduce the credits to the half...

Well done, my friend... You can be the employee of the month...

But for us... you know...

If you give the thanks to your friends as the same... Ummmmmh... Have you any friend...?
Logan.

PS. I'm not complaining, but I've got 5 links and 5 images in my sig. Can anyone beat that? (gimme your optimized appz and I'll share my sig :P )

I have wondered this for some time.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

It would be nice for Travis to settle on a stock app version so the optimizers know which app to base their code on.

Here are some novel ideas...You the project want my computing power..
I want the max credits that I can get for my donated time and money to you for credits that don't cost you anything and are worthless for anything but bragging rights....Some give the project optimized applications and help with the code.

Now here is our reward for making more science information being done sooner...

1. You lower my credits to keep me and others in line with othere projects that have nothing in common with your project.

2. You cut my credits in half in the name of credit comparison because DA gets pissed.

3. You change the application code on me 4 times in one week while I am out of town and have no way to change my computers over to use the new application and they run for 3 days idle.

4. When you get help with the new optimized applications, you reward us by still cutting our credits or changing the application again.

I don't know about you folks but this looks kind of like how some forms of government treats its folks.. Not good.

Now I must ask this one question... What else but high credits and Science would make me want to stay on this project?

He wont have too, once I see sub 1. credits my hosts are gone.

I think this is going to punish the Windows users, the linux guy's are able to run SEEx optimized apps, and the Windows guys are not able to. So now everyones credits are cut, because they get more credit than seti's opto app.

There's a whole thread in the code section on how to optimize a liunx app, us Windows guy's are up the creek without any know how on how to...

And don't say just make one, if I could I would. I have googled for a how to without luck.

I want to know what happened to all those 'optimized' win apps.

Ever since the feedback that some are wrong and then the tag changes all the apps have gone. Linux guys are lucky.

And I remember asking back in Dec (when I had some free time to play around) over in the app code forum what was needed to compile for windows (environment, flags etc). Never got an answer from the project.

Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope.

Not true. Windows apps can have SSEx optimizations, it's just that they can't be released as stock applications, so you have to insert them yourself. There is a thread with optimized Windows apps for SSE, SSE2, and SSE3, so why are you complaining that Windows can't use them? If it's because you don't want to update the application when a new version comes out, that's not the project's fault.

Please, don't go off the topic...

The thing is... If you try to help to the project with your own code, you will be punished...

Just finished of crunching the first 4 WUs from the Windos V0.14 client.

Seems the times are the same, or fractionally longer, for me than I got using V0.13. Also, the credit granted has been halved from an average of 39.85 and 41.09 under V0.13 to 21.52 and 22.19 under V0.14.

If these Windos optimised MW clients, using the SSE/SSE2/SSE3 CPU instruction sets, are approved and released to the community I would be pleased to use them. But, there is no links to these clients.

fit your ad with all its links into a 250 char. sig and I'll be impressed :P

Fair credits for fair crunching. Give me a huge credit premium with optimized apps and I'm sure to crunch here. Otherwise I probably will anyway, but give a PC or two over to other projects as well.

Could you provide a link to those Windows apps? A direct ling to the download site, not to the thread.

Easily done by resizing the images. I hope you have a magnifier.
