From: http://zslip.com/milkyway.htm Are you asking where to put it? To start with shut boinc down. For Vista it seems best to do a search for the Boinc folder. Then in that you should have projects/milkyway..., delete the stock app, then place the opti app in. And restart boinc. Or where it downloaded to? Search for the folder name of the one you chose to dl. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

I'm asking where do I extract it to? and what folders do I extract. Where to Unzip to? That would be of your choosing, doesn't matter. Take the files from that and place in your 'Boinc' folder. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Sorry I have XP, I'm trying to help. That looks only like boinc related things, not project stuff. Try looking/ searching for milkyway folder: milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway (that's what mine reads). Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

What version of Boinc are you using? If its one of the 6xx versions Boinc puts the projects and data files under C:\User if I remember right. |

Between Boinc & Vista changing and not using either... Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Just try 'milkyway' if you haven't. I think the stock app is named something like milkyway 0.16 * Trying to think of other things to look for, but Boinc 6.x is setup different than 5.x. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

copied from:here BOINC 6 splits the directories, so that the BOINC executables are in the Program Files\BOINC directory and the files that are written to a lot are in the separate data directory. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Okay..I found out how to show hidden files for Vista..the link you gave to that other forum topic was for XP. Vista how to: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/3a3bfe59-5268-4fb3-81c5-7972c28939cd1033.mspx NOW..I can see it, I'm I deleting whats inside of the milkyway folder or the milkyway folder itself? Also when I downloaded the optimized client it came with 2 files (a Application and XML Document), what exactly do I do with these? |
