From the front page, in case you missed it:

Power Outages (Continued)
May 19, 2009

Looks like the power is going to be out until tomorrow morning with another outage tomorrow afternoon. I'll post more information as we know about it.

Another Power Outage
May 19, 2009

There's another power outage today at 4PM EST, which will bring the server down again. I'll try to get it up and running right after the power comes back.

Back up and running
May 18, 2009

The reason we went down today a few times was that there were power outages on campus while they were doing things to the electrical system. Hopefully things should be up and running smoothly now.

So, down in one hour, back up again sometime 12-16 hours or so...

So if the web pages are operational, I don't understand why the rest of the project back end can't be operational....

Perhaps because it's possible to keep the web server up on backup/auxilliary power, but not the 'big iron' which runs the meaty meat of the backend processes?

It probably comes down to how big a risk are you willing to run.

IS MW CUDA up and running then? I can't even raise the MW-GPU website.

Oh, i dont think soo..

I was just making reference to what he said on the home page, that it would be up soon, sometime this week.

I'm not concerned with how long it takes to get it up and running, I just like to know alittle bit of whats going on, and when it might happen!!

All still running here at 23:30 UTC. I've reported and received new work.

So if the web pages are operational, I don't understand why the rest of the project back end can't be operational....

I think it's all the same machine. If the power goes then...nada! I suspect the the outage schedule is quite flexible for the power guys. It goes out when it goes...sigh

I'm turning blue waiting for the power outage! Everything is running as of 0200 UTC. I hope Travis has his servers inoculated against the power outage. There always seem to have gawd awful consequences when this occurs (like stuff disappearing).

I'm still scared that they're still running with the threat of no power. Bad stuff can happen with an ungraceful shutdown...sigh

Oh well, off to have some tea and then bed.
