Message 23741 - Posted: 31 May 2009, 7:46:25 UTC

I have found that if I position the tip of the mouse pointer arrow on exactly the point of the upper right corner of the Update button, then I get work from MilkyWay almost every time that I by press the button. But I have to be in exactly the right position for this to work.

Hope this works for you too.

I think this works better:

Hop on your left foot while spinning to the right while patting your head and sneezing.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

Hmm, cant click the mouse accurate enough to hit the Update at all like that, let alone the upper right corner :-(

Try holding the laptop under your left arm, it counter-balances the rotation forces.....

Hitting the update button with left hand only, then cross eyes, legs n' toes, if possible. This only works early in the morning though! So at noon uncross everthing n' update with left thumb til nightfall. If this doesn't work nothing will, so GOOD LUCK!!!!

i found that clicking that mouse button with the tip of my tongue works best for me... especially when there is a rainbow outside.
if you can pronounce "update" while doing this you will get extra credit.

That only works on weekends. During the week you need to point at the bottom right corner.

Nah you've all got it wrong.....

You need to balance on your left foot, hold your right arm out, pull your left ear, recite the 10 commandments, and drink a large glass of Baileys. Then, and only then, should you attempt with your right toe, to click the bottom left hand corner of the update button.

But beware, this only works between the hours of 0900 and 1000 on Thursdays, when there is an R in the month. At all other times you are as much in the doldrums as the rest of us.

Great - do you have a script for that? <g,d,r>

I didn't do anything(except for task scheduler running every 30 minutes) and managed to get 82 units so far today.

Well, it's been about a day now and my modest RAC (from my little ol' laptop) has increased 40% - from 323 to 454. So the technique seems to be working. ;-)

One thing I've found is that my external optical mouse seems to have undetectable micro-jitter, I'm guessing from air currents caused by the laptop's cooling fan. I can't see it on the screen, but it seems to cause just enough error to make it very hard to keep the pointer tip on the sweet spot. I don't think a script would help to compensate. You just need to practice developing a very steady hand and a very sharp eye.

Hope this helps!!
