Swine Trek Yep. Swine Trek was the ship. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Hmmm... that was weeks ago wasnt it?Wrong. Since it's been forgotten about.Wrong. It doesn't have the rate to turn into an epidemic/pandemic. The news went ga-ga over it. Not even a mention about it now for weeks.Wrong. Sure, blame the media. Such an easy out. |

Things we would all do well to keep in mind: 1. CNN, Fox New, et al, must fill 7x24 news cycles. "If it bleeds, it leads." is the age-old mantra in the news business. This means if something horrible isn't happening or about to happen every hour of every day, to people we identify with, heads will roll. 2. In the US alone, over 50,000 people die every year in traffic accidents, yet many people drive 75 mph on the freeways and the news people don't report the body count because nobody wants to hear it. We see what we want to see. 3. The leading cause of death is birth. 4. According to my Tarot readings, we're overdue for extinction. That's why the aliens have taken our genetic material. Once we're extinct in the wild, we'll make very valuable zoo specimens. 5. The deadly mutation of H1N1 that's going to appear any minute now is really so much nicer than nuclear war, big rocks from space, or being shredded in the black holes the Large Hadron Collider is going to create. At least a good plague leaves this pretty little planet intact and also keeps us from mucking it up any further. |

Things we would all do well to keep in mind: You would do well to keep in mind that if you sit there watching only one, to all three of those networks, and obtaining your news from no other sources, then, sure, you'll be one of those people sitting in fear or one of those people grumbling about the media. But when you're one of those people living within 10-15 miles of schools that close for a few days or a week (rightly or wrongly) to try to reduce the spread of H1N1, don't tell me or others that it's gone out of the news or that the worry has fallen off the map. Now, any of you care to take a swipe at those small time local TV news shows as well, the ones where you could have continued to hear about H1N! at least once a week every week since this began? |

The day I left the Dominican Republic in April of this year after a Caribbean cruise I started to sneeze and feel unwell. It was the worse illness with 'flu symptoms' that I have ever experienced, and I took time off work on doctor's orders who had nothing to give me for it so I stayed home. There are now 93 confirmed cases and one dead of swine flu in the Dominican Republic. I'm not saying I had swine flu and there aren't any cases anywhere near me, but I certainly didn't like that flu much, and I wouldn't dismiss those who decide that a pandemic is upon us for an illness where nothing can be given to cure, but maybe just to alleviate the symptoms. |

Hey Az :) True enough! Aw..It will be nice zoo, like one of those habitat things for gerbils, only bigger. But hey...what if we're already.....naw! Silly idea! I`ll go and read my I agree. Checksum errors are my normal operating state. Besides, I forgot to ask the cards about gamma ray bursters and Betelgeuse blowing up. Major omissions! ;) |
