The Arizona Moon

Once upon a starry night a long long time ago
Wearing silly uniforms, A playing we would go
We found ourselves playing in the sand, Sand as light as snow
A friend jumped up and said, I'm a sneaking into town
Twas sometime later we heard the sound of that returning Jeep
He had returned from his short trip with cans of gleaming Ale
And there we sat, We drank it all laughing in the night
When suddenly we wondered...why there was so much light
Then all at once we all looked up, And saw there in the sky
The Arizona Moon so bright, Had shone upon our party

Anyone know what this plant is is we found in our garden? It has deep purple flowers in the shape of flat wedges with 3" sides.

I think it's a variety of Celosia, I have a few I've planted in my yard.

Many thanks Bandit that confirms it. Someone else has also suggested that it is a variety of Celosia, in this case the cockscomb.

I guess It's true, Arizona has a Moon, Just like here. Amazing poem too.

Had to go out today, Got the mail, Went to the bank to deposit a rebate($40) and then went to the Optometrist for the last time as the Dear Governator of California Terminated My vision and dental benefits, Thankfully I had some prescription Bi-Focal glasses in the pipeline(almost pewter looking frames) and of course It's 108F(42C) outside as I type this, Wow. I also found out It will take Me about $120 to get the A/C in the Car refilled with R-134a refrigerant, lovely.

New MW cruncher dropping in and saying hello as directed.

Had spare processing time to put to use so thought I'd crunch a project that's based where my roots are (the Hudson Valley, not the Milky Way.)
