Also all about healt care: http://www.askheritage.org/
The Lewin Group estimates that about 88.1 million people would lose their employer-based coverage if the House bill became law. Moreover, new regulations and mandates will likely change existing coverage.

Which is only a little more than the Americans with no insurance (45+ million) and the estimated 25 million that are seriously under insured.

At least all would have access to medical insurance rather than the current 20% of Americans who have little or no medical insurance choices.

I think it is telling that so many people who can easily afford to buy private health insurance here don't, because they know they will get excellent treatment on the NHS.

When I looked into the cost of BUPA a few years ago I simply couldn't afford it on top of a mortgage. I think a basic package was about £180 a month. Now because of my age and having been a smoker for most of my life (gave up 2 1/2 years ago) it would still be very expensive.

Quite often the same consultants who you see privately also work in NHS hospitals, so you still get the best care available as you say. I think most people who use health insurance do so because when you are very ill it's much nicer to be seen quicker, and have your own room in a private hospital with a dedicated nurse, compared to being in an NHS ward.

I've had 3 NHS hand ops and I certainly have no complaints, although they were all done in the day surgery unit, which didn't require an overnight stay.

@SJ - Sorry to hear of your experiences, sad reading.

Late edit - The Prime Minister has been on Twitter! Twitter NHS

Greed seems to be behind this as I've been watching CNN(TV), PC restart in a minute.

That's over, I had to reinstall the AV after a sudden update that had the tray icon stop working.

Its somewhere between Doctors and parts of the Health Insurance industry as they said there is about $8000 spent per person and at 300 million people in the US per year that's 2.4 Trillion dollars, CNN mentioned cutting healthcare costs in half would save $1.2 Trillion a Year, Now there's an incentive to keep the status quo If ever there was one. Money and lots of It too.

It's Definitely Greed behind all of this!
In My case here in KY. Because my Wife gets A disability check of $1026.00 a month (After they take about $100.00 for Medicare) and we are both under 62 yrs old. I cannot receive KY Medicaid or monetary benefits (SSI) until I reach 62 yrs of age. (Even though the Federal Judge told Social Security to "Pay the Man". At 62 I can get my regular Social Security!) She draws $103.00 Too much according to Social security.
By the way my disability rating of #150 is supposed to give Medicaid and SSI pro-rated at no less than 50% after 1 year here.
BTW I broke My back Dec 13, 1985 and continued working sporadically until 2003. I also have had many other things happen since then that have worsened over time.
Please excuse my grammar as THIS gets me worked up! I'm tired of being dropped through the cracks!

Old out of date rules that were meant for Seniors is partly to blame and the other part? Congress not wanting to do anything about SSI or SSDI, There are now more disabled on SSI than Seniors and It has made 2 classes of disabled, Those at or near poverty and those below It, I get the $674(SSI) + $176(SSP) the SSP is from the State of California cause It's so expensive to live here, Yet SSA says It's in lieu of Food Stamps, So California is in Food Stamp Hell If one has SSI in California, Yet since 1992 by California Law there is no money meant to replace food stamps, But SSA says BS to that and Congress has done nothing for around 17 years so far to change that.

In October on the 1st, My check will go from $850.00 to $845.00 thanks to Governor Terminator, I'll never watch another Arnold Schwarzenegger movie again, Where's Judge Dredd when We need Him?

Even 36 mil is shockingly high. But that is not the figure we've been told.

I'm sure the news is different between the countries.

I think you need to check your facts on this. That isn't what is proposed at all.

Read the bill it's in there. All the politicians are denying it but it is in there.

Read this: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_081209/content/01125108.guest.html

Also; about the painkillers->http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_081109/content/01125108.guest.html

Nothing personal on you Banditwolf, but those links are to Rushlimbaugh's site. He's a known rightwing nutjob.

Even in those links there is nothing about forcing you out of private healthcare or putting you on painkillers. Just Rush going on about it and citing some irrelevant example where Doctors disagreed on the best care for a patient. That happens in all systems.

Have you got a better source?

I figured you'd say that. Did you read any of it? It gives what others have read in the 1000+ page document, not just what Rush said. Also did you read any on http://www.askheritage.org/ ? It is an outside group that is doing that not Rush or Hannity.

I listen to different shows on the radio. Better info than the one sided tv news shows.

I recently found this and I really had to search for this, Thankfully It's Free now, At one time It was for sale only in Japan(in Japanese only), But It's no longer even supported by the maker there anymore. :( (I wanted to buy It too, pfft).

Oh this was oh so hard to find: MacrossVOXP as It was made for the Japanese market back in 2002, There's a mod(patch to make It into a ROBOTECH PC game in either English or Spanish, Of course It may have some Japanese text and the graphics are 7 years old, But It plays well under XP x64, Oh and You'll need WinRAR 3.70 to unlock both of the main files(at the same time by highlighting both at once) and the password: macrossvoxp.blogspot.com and yeah the game is no longer in production and I don't think It was ever exported either, No wonder I'd never heard of It, I just stumbled across It while looking for a Robotech YouTube video and there It is, You can even play and crunch as It's not too much strain on a modern video card.

I just got done with Breakfast and now I'm going back for more Coffee, Now If only I had another $674 a month I could get out of here quicker, sigh(Buy a house and a newer used car that I'd feel more secure in). Some members in the House were against raising any limits like the $2000 savings limit(liquid assets) back in 2003, which would have been raised to $3000 and indexed to inflation and was nixed due to house opposition(I wonder who? Stingy Conservatives I'd guess). Text of H.R. 743(2003)
