Pressing "Report as offensive" gives...

>>>
Report not registered

Your report could not be recorded. Please wait a while and try again.

If this is not a temporary error, please report it to the project developers.

The project is unwilling to react. They really are a caring, responsible, receptive crew aren't they.......

No new tasks set.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : I add the Rosetta project to boinc, the units are loaded and calculated and returned but there is no next cycle, no loading of new units, a solution? (Message 71589)

Rosetta has been a bit intermittant recently. If it has downloaded work in the past, your system is set, and will receive work again when they have some. It used to have continous work.

At the bottom of each post, there is a small row of "buttons" you can click to basically thumbs up or down the post. I tried the minus, and to my suprise, absolutely nothing happened, the rating remains zero. I guess one click is not enough. The post is obvious spam.

>>> hard earned rest!

Most people connect their machines to several projects so outages like this one come and go largely unnoticed. BOINC is supposed to work like that, no effort required, easy to install, and basically forget unless you are interested.

If the GPU version is doing the same work as the CPU version in roughly the same time, then, no, don't distribute it. GPU versions have a habit of also needing some CPU, so the net result is some CPU plus a whole GPU for the same effect as a CPU. Waste of resources.

I've just aborted a work unit. 6+ hours CPU, only 8% complete, deadline later today. Your work units normally execute in a few minutes on here, (4GHz i7 + GPU). All other units aborted also before they start, NNT set. Something is wrong now.

In forums like this, it is typical to quote part of, or all perhaps, of the comment your post applies too. The reason is very simple, there can, and often will, be other posts between your post, and the post to which you refer, in other words, it is helpful. With regard to me leaving, I had, in fact, left, I'd got sufficiently irritated by the repeated database issue that I'd decided enough was enough, it was even possible that having one less person, may have saved just enough resources here to help with the problem, but within days of me doing so, the upgrade took place, so I restarted.

>>> All the questions here have answers in other threads.

What you say there is possibly true, but if, as I, you are connected to many projects, reading all threads on all forums at all projects would take more than a day per day.

The solution for me, is to reduce the number of projects I support, the ones I drop first are the ones that "irritate".

I have received credit for completed jobs today. The credit is a little odd, I would have to say, but it is there, examples:

This one:

https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/result.php?resultid=174955615

... gets 227.13

whilst this one:

https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/result.php?resultid=174954011

... gets 133.62.

... despite the first taking a little less time to run.

A lot of jobs finish as inconclusive, but later are accepted and credited, this is likely a different issue.

I see that a new server is to be installed this week, I might leave the project on for a few days and see if this fixes the problems I have seen, If it does, then maybe I'm not gone!

Unable to upload is an almost daily occurance here, it is something you very rarely see at other projects. It is not a new problem, it has been lurching along like this for ages. When the already downloaded tasks are finished, I'm gone.

Todays database unavailable was just about the last straw for me. I tried to post a message about why I was dropping the project, but couldn't because the database was unavailable. The recent invalids is another observed issue. No new tasks set.

Yes, seems a little odd, perhaps all of them JUST managed to upload before the outage started. Bit of a coincidence, but coincidences do happen. All running normally again now.

I had a bunch of work units waiting to report, but could not do so, they did, however, upload. Is the up/download server on a different supply?

I saw this wu...

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=1559573628

on my system. Normally, the jobs here run to completion in 5-6 minutes, but this one was 56% complete, not increasing, and had over a day of crunching time logged. I suspended and released it, the percentage done dropped and it started again running to completion quickly. You can see by the sent/returned dates that something weird happened. I've not noticed this before here, but it has certainly worried me, as I have the project on here, a system I do not look at much, it is simply a number cruncher.

This morning, I had several complete jobs waiting, so I did a "Report", an hour later, they were still there so I did a "Report" again. After five-six tries over an hour, they did "Report" and cleared.

Something completely trivial and almost certainly unrelated, but you did ask.

I've also had a couple of unable to validates recently, a new aspect.

Looks like another bad batch of work units. All that have arrived today have quickly failed. No new tasks set for now.
