Or not authorized thru their a/v program

a/v = antivirus? I don't run antivirus on my Linux machines (the machine i'm trying to use is running ubuntu), and this problem persists on multiple devices with different OS's as well, only on my home network. If i connect the machine i'm trying to use to my cellular hot spot it connects to MW without issue.

Next step is verify my ISP isn't meddling with my connection, then try a spare router with default configs to make sure I didn't goof anything up on my home network. If neither of those work I'll be SOL it seems

Maybe rpi.edu is blacklisted by your new ISP?

That's possible. I'll see if i can get ahold of them and ask about this.

The machine that is returning results is in a different city, no vpn or anything fancy, just a whole different location all together.

Took a bit to get back on this project.

Was there nothing more after "Trying 128.113.126.23:443..."?

That'd be a negative, it tries to connect and, i'm assuming, times out and gives up.

As for those three url's, also no luck. They timeout after 30 seconds or so as well. cs.rpi.edu never redirects either, presumably because it never connected to begin with.

I'm at a loss for what else I can do to fix this. I'm under the impression rpi.edu has blacklisted my ip. afaik MW was working at my previous house before I moved, but at this new house I don't think it's ever worked. All that's changed on my end is my ISP and external IP.

It's not a DNS issue, the computer looks up MW's IP correctly, it's the step after where it tries to talk to MW that fails. Nevertheless i set DNS to 8.8.8.8 for completeness, and the problem persists.

As requested, here's the boinc log with http_debug turned on

https://someplacein.space/share/boinc_milkyway_http_log.txt

I turned the flag on, restarted the pc, opened boinc manager, clicked add project, selected milkyway, clicked next, it displayed its 'communication' animation for a while then said 'failed to add. please try again later'

http was a bit misleading, my apologies. I'm talking about connecting to https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu from my web browser in an effort to simplify the situation.

I'm very confident it's not a boinc issue at this point, since firefox cant resolve MW's web address or IP from my home network. I cant even open this forum from home. The same holds true for the root domain rpi.edu

I can try gathering those logs you mentioned if you think it'll shine some light on this problem, but since firefox cant even connect to the website without being on a 4g hotspot i believe the issue is elsewhere.

Setup a new pc and installed boinc, as I normally do. I attached world community grid without issue, but milkyway wasn't able to attach. So I left it for a few days thinking the server was down. A few attempts later and I'm still not getting a connection, and also don't see any chatter about the server being down anywhere online either, so I start digging.

Keep in mind, this whole time I've been using the internet without a problem, except for milkyway's website. I tried connecting to milkyway.cs.rpi.edu, rpi.edu, and their respective IP's 128.113.126.23 and 128.113.0.2 to try and eliminate DNS or anything weird. Pings go unanswered and http requests are dropped. The only way I can connect (and post this message) is connecting my network to a hotspot.

Again, every other website works, it's just milkyway's that doesn't.

I'm wondering why it seems they've blacklisted my IP?

I have a milkyway boinc machine at a different IP's and it's working still, so it seems to be my IP and not my account.

I'd like to get to the bottom of this so I can get my GPU back to work, or at least know if this cant be fixed so I can switch to a different project.

Thanks for everyone's time!
8) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Error with N-Body Simulation v1.60 (mt) needing library (Message 64569)

Post:
Its been a couple weeks and I've accumulated 15 computation errors with this specific application. The error message is

<core_client_version>7.6.31</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
process exited with code 127 (0x7f, -129)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
../../projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/milkyway_nbody_1.60_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__mt: error while loading shared libraries: libgomp.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
</stderr_txt>
]]>

These started showing up after I reinstalled to ubuntu 16.04 server (from ubuntu 12.04 server) and I believe this is having an issue since the library it's trying to access must be depreciated and has been removed from ubuntu. Just curious if anyone else has this issue and if installing said library had any effects. All the other tasks from other applications and projects all complete properly so the problem seems to be specific to just this application.

Also, is there any way to opt out of just this one application?

Currently a Milkyway@Home project says Running(4 CPUs) but when viewing the system load only one core is running at 100% while the other three are idle, the core with 100% use switches every several seconds (load balancing or something im assuming) why is this process claming its using 4 cpus but only using one? no other tasks can run while this one is since it is claming that it is going to be using all four cores. The tasks do complete sucessfully in about 25 minutes though.
