Not able to download work for AMD GPU
(Message 67164)
Posted 28 Feb 2018 by iwajabitw Post: Having the issue still, tried new drivers and all that. I see also this machine still has 38 tasks labeled "Inconclusive". Here is the machine if Jake or anyone takes a look. No changes were made to this system, I just turned off new tasks last week then restarted today. https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=723824 2/28/2018 5:47:58 PM | | Fetching configuration file from http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/get_project_config.php 2/28/2018 5:48:16 PM | Milkyway@Home | Master file download succeeded 2/28/2018 5:48:21 PM | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: Project initialization. 2/28/2018 5:48:21 PM | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU 2/28/2018 5:48:22 PM | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 2/28/2018 5:48:22 PM | Milkyway@Home | No tasks sent 2/28/2018 5:48:22 PM | Milkyway@Home | No tasks are available for MilkyWay@Home 2/28/2018 5:48:22 PM | Milkyway@Home | Tasks for CPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 2/28/2018 5:48:43 PM | Milkyway@Home | update requested by user 2/28/2018 5:48:47 PM | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 2/28/2018 5:48:47 PM | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU 2/28/2018 5:48:48 PM | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks It says no tasks available, but I can Update my other systems and they download new tasks just fine. |

Posted 28 Feb 2018 by iwajabitw Post: I spoke too soon. Same system is sitting idle, not receiving tasks but the other 2 are. All gpu's are 280x or 7970's...doesnt make since. Log shows now errors, just 0 tasks downloaded. |

I cant get GPU job for this project
(Message 66441)
Posted 14 May 2017 by iwajabitw Post: Milkyway's GPU requirements are posted here. https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=3188#57810 Your card is listed as supported but it could just be a driver issue. Sometimes I have to upgrade or downgrade a driver to get a Boinc project to work. This is a clip from the posted link: Milkyway@Home requires a GPU supporting Double Precision arithmetic and OpenCL 1.0. - Most new cards (year 2012+) should work. If they don't it's a bug, as some driver versions are broken. Many of the broken versions have workarounds. NVIDIA: - Requires Compute Capability 1.3 and Above. - For the GeForce 2xx series, this is the GTX 260 and above. - Any Fermi based (GeForce GTX 4xx or 5xx) should support doubles. - Any older GPUs (such as a GeForce 8xxx or 9xxx) will not work[/url] |

(Message 66434)
Posted 12 May 2017 by iwajabitw Post: If your GTX285 isn't too old to run the project. Don't know that card so I cant say. Biggest thing I see is no OpenCL driver listed, may need to update the drivers. |

M@H seems to be freezing the progress of other tasks
(Message 66299)
Posted 14 Apr 2017 by iwajabitw Post: I would also suggest turning off CPU tasks for MW if you want to run other CPU projects while MW runs on the GPU as stated ealier. Not much bang for buck using the CPU for MW when you are using the GPU. |

(Message 66298)
Posted 14 Apr 2017 by iwajabitw Post: How about going to the CSG projects preference s page on there website and selecting to only use 75% of the processors' resources, that way it doesn't expect 100% cpu from boinc. Worth a try without an app_config, but I am unfamiliar with that project. |

"No new tasks" has no effect
(Message 66132)
Posted 21 Jan 2017 by iwajabitw Post: You probably have a bunch cached on your computer. In Boinc Advanced View, press the Show all tasks, instead of Show Active Tasks. You will then probably see them all, highlight and abort them or let them finish. Selecting No new tasks, will just stop the downloads from the server, but continue to crunch what's cached. Suspend the project, will stop it completely. |

Run Multiple WU's on Your GPU
(Message 65467)
Posted 18 Oct 2016 by iwajabitw Post: So after some testing there is no real benefit to running multiple WU on the GTX980. With a max setting in the config file for 20 wu, it takes 12 minutes to process avg, all the tasks. 1 wu setting, takes 40seconds avg. Power % of the GPU never exceeds 58 even at 20 tasks at once. So simple math, I can do 20wu in 12 minutes or 1 in 40 seconds yielding 30 tasks avg complete over the same 12 minutes. |

Posted 13 Oct 2016 by iwajabitw Post: How about an a Gtx 980 OC. How many GPU tasks should I be able to run and what what would be the proper edit. On SETI I usually have 3 going to use 99% of the GPU cuda. Thanks. |
