I don't see anything (official) on website where the correct URL is.

It appears Kevin needs to let Willy @ BAM! know what the correct URL is because it's not pointing to it.

I posted to the thread in the number crunching but apparently that info hasn't been relayed over...

Go to your preferences and enable tasks for Milkyway@home N-Body Simulation

Nbody was checked on both main and work preferences. The only thing not checked was run other applications on work. I checked it, saved it and tried it again...

First try, I had a moment and smacked myself for not turning work fetch on...

Second try client requested work, but didn't get any:

[11/15/23 7:26:44 PM | Milkyway@home | [sched_op] CPU work request: 34560.00 seconds; 1.00 devices
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | [sched_op] Server version 721
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | This project seems to have changed its URL. When convenient, remove the project, then add http://milkyway-new.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | No tasks sent
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | Project requested delay of 91 seconds
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | [sched_op] Deferring communication for 00:01:31
11/15/23 7:26:47 PM | Milkyway@home | [sched_op] Reason: requested by project
11/15/23 7:26:48 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

It did an auto-try a couple mins later and failed to get any work again.

This project no longer has any GPU work. Go to your preferences and enable tasks for Milkyway@home N-Body Simulation

Okay, I'll give it a try. I forgotten I neeed to check that. I'm on a laptop and I don't like to run GPU tasks until it's get colder irregardless. :)

Been a little whiles since I ran MilkyWay, not runnng WCG full-time anymore so I've been bouncing between Einstein and Asteroids. Saw the server migration and thought I start running some Milky again too...

I'm on WIndows 10 with latest BOINC client and can't get any work. I'm using BAM so it still is pointed to the HTTPS site instead of the HTTP site I keep messages to point to.

(I'm not currently running any GPU work for ANY project)

Went searching for an answer to this, but couldn't find an answer:

Why is the N-Body credit such a pittance with double digit credit even when run time is the same as the regular WU?

I saw this wu...

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=1559573628

on my system. Normally, the jobs here run to completion in 5-6 minutes, but this one was 56% complete, not increasing, and had over a day of crunching time logged. I suspended and released it, the percentage done dropped and it started again running to completion quickly.

Seen that a number of times. I think it's an ongoing bug they are battling. If you don't want to babysit, turn N-body off. Pretty annoying to come home and realize your computer been spinning its wheels on a WU since last night...

Because the database clears results from the BOINC server after so many days else you'd start to get huge performance degradation.

Typically, the more active a project, the shorter the period. The alternative is investing in really expensive corporate enterprise servers...

I keep the intermittent N-body that runs and runs... the last one I aborted at 15 hours...

Sometimes if I restart BOINC, they'll run properly, but I've seen them bite the dust too shortly after too...

BOINC transitioning to a Community Based Governance...

David Anderson wrote:

BOINC's funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation has ended, at least for the time being.
This funding supported me, Rom Walton, and Charlie Fenton.
We're now working on other things, although we'll stay involved in BOINC at some level.

The BOINC project will continue, and will be run according to a community-based model rather than centrally.
In essence, the people who contribute to BOINC now make the decisions about it.

This model is summarized here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/ProjectGovernance
and described in detail here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C6pU5RqidYBxk9oyAevm1yH1tn4Hw27oM8YpvsnR-gg

There will probably be little visible change.
The BOINC software will continue to work.
The translation system, Alpha testing project, BOINC web site, message boards, and email lists will continue to operate.
However, any new development and major bug fixes to BOINC will need to be done by volunteer programmers.
I'm confident that the BOINC community will meet the challenge.

I welcome your feedback.
Please post it to boinc_admin@googlegroups.com, a new email list for discussions about the BOINC project as a whole.
