What is going on with my computer
(Message 72301)
Posted 29 Mar 2022 by DCL Post: I had a n-body simulation running for 3 days with 9 days to go (don't check often). I checked about 45 minutes later and very little progress, so I suspended it and resumed. When restarted said 11 minutes done and 3 minutes to go, finishing in 12 minutes. This has happened several times occasionally on n- body simulation occasionally over the years. It does not happen on simulation. Any suggestions? (My knowledge on the internal working of computers is zero!) Thanks DCL |

Old inconclusive resutls
(Message 71102)
Posted 6 Sep 2021 by DCL Post: I have 11 inconclusive results. I have no questions on 3, BUT the other 8 are from between Jan 26 and Feb 1. That seems to be a long time to wait for somebody to wait for another person to send their results. When I click on the task number I get a page that says, “Unable to handle requestâ€. At the bottom of the page of the task number there is a “Stderr outputâ€. (Task numbers are 875110, 846937, 660169, 464607, 464608, 393878, 323517, 1309927. All are “Separation v1.46 windows_x86_64.) I consider myself semi-literate with the programs that I use and not even illiterate with the internal workings of the machine. My 2 questions are: 1) what is “Stderr output; and 2) at what point would an inclusive result become invalid or error? Thanks DCL |

disable getting nbody tasks
(Message 70231)
Posted 9 Dec 2020 by DCL Post: I too have been having problems with the freezing on work during the nbody calculations. Several months ago I disabled getting them on them. I just checked and the MH@H preferences is no for getting the nbody simulations. How ever, I still am getting them. At the present time I have 160 tasks with over 40 (stopped counting) of the nbody. How do I stop receiving them? Thanks Red Thumb |
