Jake, Thanks for the response, it is much appreciated. I understand projects like this are usually understaffed and overworked. There is usually a solution to any problem if time can be found to address it.

Is it possible to get an undergrad who is involved in communications or Tech of some sort to spend a few hours a week addressing this? If the budget allows some sort of stipend that would make the position all the more desirable. Just an idea.

Again thank you for the time to respond, it will go a long way to insure us crunchers keep crunching.

I am linking a post I made in the science section of the forums as I suspect many people who read this section might not read that part of the forums.

It concerns the lack of feedback to us crunchers on this project. Are we doing anything useful? If I am going to invest time and money into a project I would like to know it is actively working toward some goal.

Thank you
Bob

It seems most of Distributed Computing seems to have the issue of Lack of communication. They keep the servers running but lack in the resources to keep the crunchers informed on what is happening with all the work that is returned.

Go to this project's publication page at http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/information.php and you sill se it is YEARS out of date.

This page is up to date as of January 10, 2015--Siddhartha S.

That is 3 years. The reason most of us participate is to be part of something that would be totally unavailable to us otherwise. For all we know our reults are being dumped in the trash as soon as we return them. I suspect this is not the case but I see no evidence to the contrary.

Lets raise our voices and push for some feedback. There is no reason we should not be kept informed of all the hard work we put into this project.

Thank you
Bob

I started looking at other Wing Mates times and they were pretty close to what I was getting. Your explanation appears to be the answer I was hunting for.

Thanks for the time and have a happy and healthy new year.

Also the same to all the MW crunchers out there, Be safe.

I crunch for several different projects
Seti@home
POGS
Einstein
and this one Milky Way

Most of my projects I run I have an efficient run time of close to 90%, meaning that if my run time was 1000 seconds my CPU time would be around 900. With Milky Way I am averaging about 16% percent efficient.
Run time 225 seconds, CPU time 25 Seconds.

I run MW only on my GPU (1060 - 6GB). Is there anyway to run this more cleaner?

Thank you
Bob
