2nd try turning off your a/v and try the transfers again, after it's done turn the a/v back on again
And if that works, exclude BOINC data dir from scanning to avoid such issues in the future.

What kind of tasks are you trying to get cpu or gpu tasks?
And also make sure to enable N-Body, asking for CPU tasks with N-Body disabled will result in no tasks sent.

One valid here and I got now one _1 on my computer. The ready to send buffer also dropped by about 3k. That means we made it through that huge pile of _0s and now we need to make it through the same huge pile of _1s. :D

Look, they haven't been able to solve a database problem for 2 weeks.
Which problem with database? The inconclusive tasks are not a problem with database and it's not a problem at all, as it will clear out by itself. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, all results will be validated, just later than usual, no crunching wasted, that's the main thing.

Well, as you see the threads have been unpinned and Kevin is active so far, just not every day perhaps.

Hello admins, what about the WUs that have the status "Done, confirmation not clear"? Where is the error in your system? I expect some appreciation for the participants who donate their CPU time and money!
Read this.

My MILKYway@home project. It has kep thesame unit number for sometime.
Do you mean the credits perhaps? This has been discussed in many threads, in this one you will also find the date we expect to get credits again.

Configured here properly , afaik
Probably not, since there are lots of tasks available. First thing to check are your MilkyWay@home preferences. Make sure you have CPU, N-Body and just to be sure "other appliactions" enabled and GPUs disabled. Since there's just one application left, you probably can also delete all additional preferences for home/work/school. If everything was already configured like that, change something (for example disable "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?") and save the changes just to get the server to "refresh" it and see if it than works.

If you stil can't get any work, make a scheduler request with <work_fetch_debug> enabled in cc_config.xml.
<cc_config>
 <log_flags>
  <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug>
 </log_flags>
</cc_config>

As of right now there are 8 active users in the last 24 hours.
That seems to be users, for which WUs have been validated in the past 24 hours. If you check the list of Top Participants, you'll find many more, who returned results in the past 24 hours.

As explained in this thread, almost nothing will be validated until around mid February. As you can see here, over 1000 Milkyway WUs have been cruched in the past 24 hours just by those who also run WUprop, however according to our calculations over 1000 WUs are crunched every hour.

Those few making announcements about abandoning Milkyway are not really making any noticeable differece, like on every other project where people feel the need to make a big announcement about them leaving because of some server hickup or temporary work shortage. Usually they also never miss to include details about their super expensive computers, which they bought specially for that project...

So no, we are not on any kind of bottom, the number you see ist just the result of creating unusualy high amount of tasks by accident during server maintenance in combination with the fact, that the 2nd task needed for validation is created after the frist has been returned.

perhaps this thread should get a message to that effect from the MW admin and then be locked!
And unpinned together with all other GPU-related pinned threads.

No, they are not just files, they are database entries. Not sure how hard it is to find them, but considering that they still have not been able to find and delete old separation WUs from 2021, I guess we don't need to hope for official numbers of _0 and _1 tasks. But if you assume, that the 480,550 tasks left between the 935473011 and 935953561 are nearly all _0 and everything else is _1, you will be pretty close to the truth. Or if we take my newest task 935501281, than there are about 452,280 _0s left, probably a bit less than that.

So let's try again...

932856512, sent 16 Jan 2024, 20:40:44 UTC
933039926, sent 23 Jan 2024, 11:27:26 UTC

That are 183,414 tasks sent out in about 177 hours.

935342117, sent 24 Jan 2024, 13:12:42 UTC
935473011, sent 29 Jan 2024, 16:29:58 UTC

That are 130,894 tasks sent out in about 123 hours.

So total 314,308 tasks in 300 hours, or 1,047.7 tasks per hour.

There are 480,550 tasks left between the 935473011 and 935953561 (apparently the server isn't sending the tasks exactly after their numbers, but close enough). At 1,047.7 tasks per hour, 935953561 should be sent out about 458 hours (about 19 days) after 935473011. So around the 17th February.

I think I can't get it more exactly than that. Did I still miss something?

Well, exactly as I thought, you are attached to an account manager and that has no Milkyway in it's settings so it's deleting it. Detach from it and it will no longer delete Milkyway (or add Milkyway to it, but to manage your 3 computers it's completely pointless to use an account manager in most cases).

We need the rate of successfully computed results. Your figure also includes all aborted tasks, computation errors, and timeouts.
No, for the rate at which the tasks are sent it doesn't matter what happens with them later on the clients.

Oh wait. Your figure is possibly skewed a lot because during late January 16 ... mid January 24, there were 3 million tasks-ready-to-send on the server. 2.3 million of those no longer exist since January 24 because Kevin deleted them, but they may be included in the workunit numbers which you found.
Yes.

Does this make sense?
Yes, but it doesn't take into account, that we have two types of tasks here: the long tasks, which need 96000-116000 CPU seconds on my computer and for which we get around 1000 credits and the short tasks, which need less than 10000 CPU seconds (and as you can see, they are the majority, at least on my list).

The oldest _1 waiting for to be send out from my WU list is 935953561, created on the 17th January.
The oldest _0 I got on the 16th is 932856512
The newest _0 I got today (29th) is 935473682

That means we processed 2,617,170 tasks in 13 days. That's 201,321 tasks per day.

There are 479,879 tasks left between the 935473682 I got today and 935953561. At 201,321 tasks per day, 935953561 should be sent out in about 2.5 days.

Does that make more sense?

All aktĂve pc cpu 4 core. On all pc, all settings equal.
Thanks for the info... sorry, but the operation of your PC is not very relevant here, because your weakest machine has as much ram as my three machines combined. :)

Milkyway runs just fine on my ancient Core2Duo with 6GB RAM while I'm using it, hope this is relevant enough. ;-)

Regarding your settings:
In the "Computing" tab:

Use at most 100% of the CPUs
Use at most 100% of CPU time

Disable everything in "When to suspend"

In the "Disk and memory" tab, in the Memory section, set "When computer is in use" and When computer is not in use" to equal values, I have 70% there and 80% for the page file.

And than of course it's never impossible to get an application to crash if you fill up the RAM to nearly 100%. Eventually you need to increase the size of your swap file, what have you set there? I have 6GB, so 12GB total.

Are you using BAM or any other account manager? If not, check the event log, the answer is likely there, your BOINC client won't remove Milkyway without leaving any trace in the log.

Those are from 2021, looks like Kevin will have to look at those separately, the tasks exist, but not the WUs, so it might be a bit more complicated.
