Timeline in virtually all cases is the same:

- wingman reports first with a validation inconclusive
- my reports the same
- 3rd machine kicks in with 'in progress' status

Hope that's what your asking, Peter?

Hmmm that is strange since you are the 1st wingman you should be validating the tasks, so either your machine is flaky or the original pc is flaky, unless of course it's the task itself that's flaky in which case the Project will have to figure that out. Do your tasks eventually validate after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc wingman?

Sorry for the confusion. Technically I'm the wingman as the timeline starts with the other client reporting first.

As to what eventually happens as I'm not sure if/when the inconclusives morph to valid.

Curious what's the total output broken down strictly between cpu and gpu?

Just rejoined and 'validation inconclusive' represents nearly 1/4 of submitted results over 3 non-overclocked, linux run pc's.

Running CPU only and wingmen appear to be strictly GPU driven. Could architectural differences explain this?

This has morphed into a mostly GPU project anyway.
Incorrect. The Nbody app does completely different research.

The statement wasn't about research differences, rather the project wide payload done by gpu vs cpu. You stand corrected.

This has morphed into a mostly GPU project anyway. Any ideas what % of total scientific output is GPU vs CPU these days?

As for WCG, I think it must be run by one person. Don't hold your breath for them coming back. They've just admitted they can't even get the web server to work. For goodness sake I set one of those up in an afternoon as a teenager.

When someone keeps moving the date forwards more and more, they've had it.

Maybe they're simply experiencing what you've said all along .. discovering that 30 year old easily broken, hard to manage code written in an era that was never designed to handle all the nuances of multi core cpu/gpu computations requiring a near full time IT manager, else going back to square 1 with an endless procession of new ill equipped admins inheriting code written before they were born trying band-aid solutions isn't exactly a recipe for continued smooth sailing.

No, it's time the whole Boinc setup should be nuked and started fresh, beginning with awarding credits that are consistent cross-project which as we know is a joke. Wow, I got 20,000 points in MilkyWay today (equal to 150 in WCG)! Obviously an exaggeration but you get the point. Doesn't stop the point whores from proudly extolling their production numbers in their signatures.

I predict if World Community Grid comes back on May 9th as it's scheduled that some of the people will go back to World Community Grid which will make the number of NBody work units to be validated take even longer

The damage has already been done. I stopped crunching late March after seeing my inconclusives flatline without improvement. I'm sure I'm not alone. Moved to universe@home and now check only irregularly here just to see what WU's remain.

As mentioned several times before, it just needed something to kick the transitioner into looking at the stalled work units again...

And it 'just' started happening after discussing this. What a coincidence!

So now there are a bunch of WUs that won't be validated that are floating around, which is frustrating for people.

Finally! A statement suggesting those WU's may never be validated and may be permanently listed in our accounts as pending.

My sympathies to those who have thousands outstanding. I only have 603.

The tasks haven't been replicated yet for any wingmen. So you are waiting until somebody else crunches the tasks and get validated.

Thanks, the vast number were submitted at my end between March 16 - 24. Assume I'm waiting because the server hasn't sent them to others despite the time lag. Just how much longer, or has this already been addressed by the admin that I'm not seeing?

Are yours zero tasks or 1, 2 or more tasks? Look at the number at the end of your task for the number. The zero task is the original task while the 1, 2 3 etc is other copies of the same task sent out to validate the task if needed.

Since it was determined they all end in 0 what exactly does that mean?

Ok just looked again. They all end in 0.

My validation inconclusive's haven't dropped in 4 days now. I had hopes for improvement.

I checked some of yours and they said that you are not waiting on a wingman just for the Server to do it's thing to process your tasks and give you the credits for them. I wonder if Tom needs to kick that part of the Server or you are just waiting thru a few Million other tasks just like yours? If so people still doing tasks is the problem as the list never grows shorter although yours should be heading to top of the queue.

It's been a week now without any further validated inconclusive's. I stopped crunching 5 weeks ago.
