i have solved it for me. 11.5 ati and 10.6 boinc works. 11.3 or 11.6 ati and any other boinc version for me gives this problem.

Yeah tried the 75% option which didn't work.

GPU temp i've not checked but the same GPU works in another rig without any problems and all my systems are in coolermaster test benches open air.

Full legal OEM copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT.

Works fine with collatz.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue which is becoming really annoying.

I've tried drivers 11.3,11.5,11.6 on HD 6950 and 6990.

I've tried it on 4 different spec pcs and 4 different ATI cards only thing the same was Windows 7 64 BIT. I get this problem on each PC.

I've tried 2 versions of boinc and same problem.

I downloaded http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=32 and copied to my boinc data folder as it said. and same problem. I did this when service was not running.

I've tried 2 different versions of boinc client.

I only have this problem with milkyway. Other projects are fine.

My working pcs are using 6.10 and 11.5 drivers 6950. All pcs with this problem are running the same now.

:(

I've got the same problem now :( but only on one machine. I have another machine with same spec, same graphics card and it's got loads of WU and keeps downloading more GPU WU.

CPU WU is fine it's just GPU :(

thanks for all the replies again...I've tried it all and given up. Most simple way for me is just use 1 GPU per PC. I've also noticed that a single HD 5870 1 GB does it the same speed as a 4 GB HD 5970!

I've checked it with GPU-Z and each core is running at 100% load..the system is only doing boinc but the GPU WU time keeps randomly changing between 3 minutes and 6 minutes each :(

I think i'll take 1 card out and leave it working correctly over night...will this cause a problem for you guys looking at the computer properties later on when it shows?

Ok I've put the 4 GB HD 5970 in a single PC which is running fine. I've put two HD 5970 2 GB cards into the PC with the problem and unhidden computers from view so you can see them.

I've plugged a monitor in each card and left it on.

CrossFire is currently disabled and it's reporting 4 GPU in messages with the latest drivers.

is there a way i can make the pc to show and not all?

in the messages it picks up GPU0 and GPU1 but as the HD 5970 has two chips I thought I would see GPU3 and GPU4 in device manager I see it as 4.

I tried http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=1844#41114 and put a config file in c:\programdata\boinc but it didnt do anything

thanks

I've put in another HD 5970 without crossfire enabled boinc would only run 2 tasks. With crossfire enabled it runs 4 tasks but they now take 3 minutes where before it was 1 minute 30 seconds per per unit on 2...am i doing it wrong?

So is the same credit for for a CPU or GPU?

Seems pointless waiting 6 hours for a CPU WU when a GPU can do it in 90 seconds and gets the same credit?

Thanks

I've been running a 4 GB HD 5970 on an old Intel Core 2 Core system which is doing 2 units every 1 minute 30 seconds and my credit is very high but on another PC which does no GPU work but has an i7 975 it's getting much less credit. So by having the GPU i'm getting 10 times as much credit each day. I thought as they run so quick and so small the credit would also be small?

Am I understanding it wrong or is the GPU processing much better?

Thanks
