1) Message boards : Number crunching : New AMD Driver slower? (Message 64527)

Yes, i noticed that too(40s with 1 WU MWhome 1.02 vs 32s previously). They done something with power management in DP calc mode i presume. So i changed power consumption to 15% in Crimson OverDrive panel and i got previous results.

This ) Thanx.

Interesting. Will check this phenomen today. Even if 4 tasks at same time equil in calc time\complexity\award - its not equil in default 1 vs 1 calc and needs own config. BTW even if you uncheck recieving "Separetion (modified fit) 1.36" in your own MilkyWAy account config - server will ignore it and continue to send WUs lol.

Just thinking... Why Separetion (modified fit) 1.36 WUs calculation time for example 15s and rewarded only by 26.74 score when MilkyWay@Home 1.02 calculation time about 34s and its reward is 106.88? - in other words award for Separetion (modified fit) 1.36 task is not correlate to its calculation complexity if we compare it to Home 1.02 reward - its almost 1/2! Any ideas?

Long 213.76 WUs are over i think, its time to remake result table with new ones ;)

I have same card and almost same system sa yours, and can perform 80s result only with 1100Mhz core. You sure about 900Mhz?

Hmm, CPU isn`t very interesting thing in most projects - too slow, Xeon or not. Have interest in Tesla/FirePro testing for crunching, but too expensive to even try.
I think WindForce will provide enough cooling level, something about 75-80c maybe. On my DirectCUII 68-70c now.

Yea, i was tried hard ) Memory OC isn`t important for crunching, and pretty unstable on high clocks. Really nice to see that 7950 can be faster than stock 7970 lol. But OC 280X will beat all variants.

Yeah, noticed new 213.76 WUs too. Also, OC GPU core to 1.1Ghz and DC memory to stock 5Ghz, now 80 seconds for old WUs and 52 seconds for new ones.

Hmm, new OCL driver in Beta 14.1 is really faster. Now my result is 87 seconds on 213.76 WU.

Hi there, some results on my PC with 213.76 WUs:
min - 94.11 max - 95.26 avg - 94.685.
3570k OC @4Ghz, 7950 OC 1000/6000Mhz.

Very good OC results on your 7950, and yes, it can`t work on such extreme cloks with default voltage, or it was factory modified in BIOS.

If your card cooling system looks like then your temperature level explainable. Mine looking like this and Snow Crash`s like this .

1.25v? - its too high voltage for 7950 core with degradation risk, my running on 1Ghz with just 1.143v now on 65C. And you always can manually adjust fan speed to stable 50-70% rpm for better cooling, i`m thinking about it.

Yeah, you are right. My fault - to this moment, i`m even not started AMD overdrive panel, +20% to core power did the trick(Tapio already mentioned that, silly me), now crunching WUs ~25-30% faster, sorry for your time spending for so obvious thing. But now all 7950-7970 users can boost crunching speed, all thx to that small power trick.

I see, no one noticed same problem. But maybe no one didn`t try to monitor 7950 core clock frequency while crunching? - try to start Afterburner or other monitoring software and see\post here results.

[boinc.at] Nowi, yes, i noticed slowdown in WU calculations with 13.3 beta, but with 13.1 was the same picture - frequency wasn`t stable too.

dskagcommunity, you sure it was stable 950Mhz all time? Here is screenshot of MSI AB with my information, first graph is GPU load and third graph - core clock.

1 unit once, tied 2 units also - no difference in total time(about 3 mins) between one after another or 2 at once. Can you check your GPU clock while you crunching WUs plz? - i`m curious, its on all Tahiti cards same thing, or only on mine.

I will try. But energy saving system downclocking core frequency only when core load is not high enough to use all power of GPU core, so i think driver energy options won`t help in this situation.
