Haven't had any more get stuck. The only thing that has changed is that my 5970 is now running MW on both cores, whereas before it was only running on 1 core while Collatz was running on the other.

I just wish the maximum time limit would kick in and stop the wu. When I got home today I had one at 7.5hrs and counting...this is really hurting my RAC!

Until a couple of days ago I had not seen this 'bug' but now I've had quite a few wu's get stuck. They haven't timed out with maximum time limit exceeded. Since my previous post I've had 2 more wu's get stuck. I found one after 3hrs40min and another after 3hrs20min. There was no GPU activity, but 100% CPU activity. I suspended/unsuspended both and they both jumped back to just over 1 min elapsed time and completed OK on the CPU only about 5 seconds later. The both reported OK and received credit.

Other wu's are completing in the 'normal' amount of time.

I've seen some wu's get stuck on my 5970. Normally they complete in 1.5 to 2.5 minutes, but I've seen one at 30 minutes and running, so I suspended and unsuspended it and it appeared to finish 'normally' with the time jumping back to about 60 sec on restart whic it then immediately completed and reported OK. Another I found with 12 minutes on the clock. Suspend and unsuspend also got it to complete, though I missed the resulting wu completion and reporting.

So the question is why do they get 'stuck'?

I must admit even though using double credits as an incentive for fund raising was a little unorthodox, it wasn't a bad idea really. In fact quite a good one.

Shame the minority naysayers won again!

I gave up holding my breath or caring along while ago. If it happens, it happens. There seems to be one issue after another holding up the 'right' time to do it.

Let's try a different approach. Is someone with a 6950 or other ATI cards which doesn't experience this problem and has a lower version of Cat 11.6?

Have a scroll through the top computers list...

A more easier approach...use the card on something that works for me like seti and collatz

Whatever...just trying to help.

Seems that they have all win7x64.

IS there anybody with win7x64 witch doesn't have this Problem?

Could the 0.82x 86 Version with an App_indo.xml File run under Win7x64?

Win7/64bit with a 5970 in it here...no issues with MW.

This makes sure if you are doing some other work on the PC (Mail, Office, WEB-Browsing, etc) the GPU chruches.
And you need to be aware that having MW crunch using the GPU all the time can make using IE8, MS/Word, Excel, or even scrolling through a long list of files in a folder a painfully slow experience. With an HD5870 crunching, I'm frequently reaching for the Snooze GPU option just to do basic work.

I'm not seeing that on my machines (3850/4870/4870/5970).

You are SOOOooo missing the point. IF you crunch 38 hours of work in 12 minutes, even IF it jams the system and stops all other processing for that 12 minjutes, you've shown a 50,000% net profit on your crunching time. hello?

And you aren't doing any homework and considering how BOINC works. This is not the office of arguments.

There is an issue however. It may only take 16 minutes to finish with 2 cpu's, but it loads another one and it becomes priority and my other projects never run. The time remaining is starting in the 300's and goes down real fast, but this causes priority.

Give it time. BOINC will work it out. The other projects will get their share again. While MW is running the other projects are building 'debt' which BOINC will pay off by giving them time.

On my 3850 0.62 wu's completed in 530-560 seconds for 213 cs. Now completing 0.82 wu's in 590 seconds. No app_info.

I've seen an increase in completion times on my Q9450, Win7/64bit, 5970 (also has a 4850 in it, but these times are not reported here)

Previously (0.62) I was seeing the following (app_info, target frequency 90, 2 wu's at a time)

159 credits -> 132 to 137 seconds
213 credits -> 184 to 192 seconds
267 credits -> 232 to 239 seconds

Now (0.82) I'm seeing (app_info, target frequency 90, 2 wu's at a time)

159 credits -> 141 to 145 seconds
213 credits -> 194 to 197 seconds
367 credits -> 241 to 246 seconds.

Tonight I'll reduce the target frequency to see if there is a difference, but this is a fairly large increase in calculation time.
