how to adjust resource share?
(Message 77050)
Posted 15 days ago by julianop Post: Some time in the distant past I believe I had one central location (BOINC?) to set resource share for individual projects, but I can't seem to find that now. Am I forgetting something? More specifically, how do I adjust resource share for MWAH? In the recent past it's been hogging resources like schoolyard bully, specifically preventing WCG from doing any work. That won't cut it for me, as I want to share time between human science and cosmology. Thank you! |

Some tasks seem never-ending.

Posted 29 days ago by julianop Post: I'm getting a large number of never-ending work units (de_nbody_orbit_fitting_03-06-2024_v186_OCS_data_3_1709197135_xxxxx) at least five of them in the past five days. I've just rejoined MilkyWay@home after an absence from the project, and am immediately getting an alarming number of them: WU's that are estimated at a mere couple of minutes are taking over twenty four hours with increasing time remaining. I can't keep monitoring the progress every now and again to abort bad WU's, and don't want to waste processing time and energy. Is this a bad lot of WU's, or could there be something wrong with my setup? Other projects: Einstein@Home, Rosetta@Home are behaving normally; even WCU, thought WU's come down only sporadically. |

MilkyWay hogging processor time.
(Message 69552)
Posted 19 Feb 2020 by julianop Post: Thanks for your reply, Joseph. Umm.... I'm going to need a bit of clarification, if you'll bear with me... First, there are no errors listed at all. Milkyway is plowing ahead with great gusto, completing "0.92CPUs + 1 NVIDIA GPU" tasks in 11 minutes 30 secs. At this moment, there is a 6 CPU task running, and the aforementioned GPU task - both from Milkyway. The WCG task uses regular processor cores, so I see no reason why the regular core tasks from Milkyway should swap out to each othe revery hour; otherwise how would I get WCG to ever run ? I'm confused about setting "0.0" share. how does that result in any activity? I've been running Boinc for years, but his whole thing makes no sense to me. |

MilkyWay hogging processor time.

Posted 19 Feb 2020 by julianop Post: I have World Community Grid tasks that are passing their due date, yet MilkyWay is hogging processor time when its projects aren't due for another five days. There hasn't been a task switch for twenty four hours (set for 60 minutes) What's going on? |

Updated GPU Requirements (Currently not supporting GPU tasks)

Posted 16 Jan 2015 by julianop Post: My event log says: 1/16/2015 4:28:31 PM | rosetta@home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU 1/16/2015 4:28:32 PM | | App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it 1/16/2015 4:28:32 PM | Milkyway@Home | [error] App version uses non-existent ATI GPU 1/16/2015 4:28:32 PM | Milkyway@Home | [error] Missing coprocessor for task de_80_DR8_Rev_8_5_00004_1413455402_44869832_0; aborting So it seems my app is requesting tasks for a GPU I appear not to have? Why would that be? I actually have a Radeon 4800, is that not supported? |
