Hi I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 with ATI driver 11.5 (HD 5850), from time to time I've got WUs who end up erroring, here's the Stderr output :

<core_client_version>6.12.34</core_client_version>

<message>

</message>
<stderr_txt>

Having an error on one WU isn't really a big deal, the problem is that my PC completly froze and I have to reboot it manualy wich is a lot more anoying.
An idea of where this might come from?

I am running two workunits and it does increase the GPU usage up to 100% and the CPU usage is still at 0%

cedricdd, thanks for posting your app_info. Running 2 WUs at once does increase the GPU usage to 99% but with either 1 or 2 GPUs the CPU usage here is still 1 full CPU core, sometimes grabbing 2 cores (no difference between the 1 and 2 GPU machines, they all vary between 1 and 2 full CPU core usage).

BTW, minor change in the app_info:

<version_num>57</version_num> changed to <version_num>59</version_num>

What OS version and drivers are you using that you're seeing low CPU usage (computers hidden)?
Win7-64, 10.12 here. Thanks again.

At the end of each tasks, when it reach 100% I have a 0% for the GPU and for 4-5 seconds the task is using one CPU at a 100% but it was the same when I was running only one task. Exept for the end the CPU usage is at 0%, my config is Win-7 64 bits and driver 11.4 (1.4.1353).

How are you running two workunits concurrently ?

With an app_info.xml

<app_info>
<app>

</app>
<file_info>

    <avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus>
    <max_ncpus>1</max_ncpus>
    <coproc>

      <count>0.5</count>
    </coproc>
    <cmdline></cmdline>
  <file_ref>

I'm finding exactly the same as [Boinc.at]Nowi and my rigs are running 2 x CPU at Seti.

All we need now is a means of running 2 workunits at a time, adjust the credit given, and were back in business!!!

Cheers

New Milkyway ATI app, command like options are available. Not currently working, wait for further refinement from Milkyway

Am I looking in the right place?

It is the right place, but I have been unable to get it to run with an app_info, so I do not recommend trying it currently.

I am running it right now with an app_info and it works fine.

The ATI app is using nearly a full cpu core per wu....ouch!

Not here, only 0.05CPU.

That's what it says, but it's busy waiting for the GPU to finish things which I thought I fixed months ago.

And it's ~25% slower compared to the old app... that sucks :(
What GPU? I was running it for a few days in the last week and it was pretty much the same for my 5870

On my 5850 it's also slower.
