I haven't read anything to suggest a problem with old accounts. They promised us badges etc would carry over to the new system. I think they know how important that is. |

Posted 4 Jun 2022 by unixchick Post: FYI - They posted a new message to the website. They did not post on twitter yet. They are working on issues with signing up new people and communication if I read that right. It has been so long, I just wish they would just open up to us current members. Who all is interesting in them communicating on Insta and YouTube ?? I would be happy with a working forum myself, but I guess I'm just old and boring. I've lost my optimism. They will be back some day. I'll do some ARP, but it is getting hot here, so I'll not be doing alot until it cools down again. Maybe they won't be back until it is cool again, so it won't be an issue. bleh. |

Posted 28 May 2022 by unixchick Post: latest update from WCG We were unable to bring our production environment to the same state as the QA environment this week. As we also have yet to resolve an issue that prevents BOINC clients from downloading workunits, the effort to bring the Grid back online has stretched into next week. |

Posted 27 May 2022 by unixchick Post: Thanks Mark for the confirmation. I must say that none of this info is giving me much hope. When they do get it up and working I will go back and suffer through the ups and downs as I would like to see ARP finish. It is a shame that they had to deal with this interruption to their project, and if fewer people come back either because they found new projects, or because the new system is too unstable, then they will need my computer all the more. In MW news... I'll probably get my 500k badge here before being back at WCG. |

Posted 26 May 2022 by unixchick Post: Thanks for the good list of active boinc projects. I'll save the link for when I need it. Right now MW with an Einstein backup is good enough as I'm still hoping for WCG to come back online. I'm attached to ARP. I probably need to look at LHC (from your list), as that sounds interesting. I'm disappointed that WCG aren't back by now. I loved the openness and communication they gave us in the beginning, but now I'm worried about the amount of admin devoted to the project and/or the skill of the new admin to manage the WCG going forward. I'm also disappointed in how many of their own deadlines they blew through. I expected issues to make them unable to meet their first deadline, but hoped they would make the second one...and thought for sure they would make this last one, but alas we haven't had any communication since, just the promise of further communication with a date of opening. Is anyone from the user community helping them with testing?? It would give me hope that they have gotten past internal testing. let me know if anyone has any hopeful information on the project. edit: I thought they would update us this week... now I see this "We will provide further details early next week." Was this an edit on their part?? or did I misread it earlier? |

Posted 25 May 2022 by unixchick Post: There are LOTS of other projects that would LOVE to have your computers crunch tasks for them!! I think the reason we crunch WUs is because we get attached to a particular project. It was Seti@home that got me started doing this. When seti finished it was real hard for me to find a new place to crunch as I like a place with a chatty forum as well as an interesting project. I was happy doing ARP (African Rainfall Project) at WCG and I know they have a limited amount of data to crunch and I'd like to see that project to the end. I'm enjoying my time at MW, and I will keep this as my backup project, and Einstein will be my backup to the backup as MW isn't the most stable. I don't expect WCG to be stable when it comes back either. I'm not sure what I will do once ARP ends. I'm not attached to the other projects at WCG, so hopefully they will bring on some new projects. |

Posted 25 May 2022 by unixchick Post: I'm hoping WCG will put up the website and forums soon, even if they are still testing the WU send and receive stuff for a couple more days. So far nothing....They should just say we will try again next Tuesday. It wouldn't be a good idea to bring the system back online on a Friday. Glad MW is up and working well right now, so my machine can do something. |

Posted 10 May 2022 by unixchick Post: Latest update... We were able to address the issues we were facing. As we are now able to continue with testing the system we plan to reassess the earliest WCG restart date we can commit to by Thursday evening (May 12th), when we will post an updated schedule to social media and to the website. |

Posted 10 May 2022 by unixchick Post: I wouldn't say my crew. I'm just a noisy member of the WCG group. I have no idea how many from WCG are here, but I'm guessing many will stay until WCG is back up. I anticipate that things will be rocky over at WCG for a bit, so I'll definitely keep MW as my backup project. I'm glad that MW is working well now, and that we got a chance to make use of the cycles we couldn't give to WCG. Thanks you to the many regulars in this project that answered our questions and chatted. |

We continue to work on this tonight and we aim to update you tomorrow [May 9th, 2022] with the revised start date for the WCG, unless we run into some unexpected challenges. |

Posted 7 May 2022 by unixchick Post: New update from WCG - We are currently facing unexpected issues with the load balancer - a small but critical component that ensures science servers will cope with increased workloads. If not resolved on time, it would prevent us from restarting on May 9th. We will provide an update tomorrow evening. |

I see that Milky Way is back up. It has accepted my finished WUs. I'm still waiting to get some new WUs. edit to say that I now have separation WUs. This is good. wonder why it was all shut down?? wonder if there will be any issues from all the N-body WUs ?? |
