This might do it too, just found this on GPUGrid. When I have time might give it a go:

6.10.31

- client: newer ATI drivers crash if struct_size isn't filled out before the structure is used.

I guess it is possible, but I've not seen any phenomenon like this, it just bluescreens and reboots when i load MW. I guess I should note I'm running 6.10.29 for BOINC. x64 edition, of course.

Anyone else have this problem? I've got a 5870 and a 4850 in the machine, and they play nice together up through Catalyst 9.12, but 10.1 it bluescreens as soon as Milkyway starts. If its because of the dual cards, fine, I don't need 10.1 for anything, just curious if this is widespread or if I'm just lucky.

My profile is set to no CPU, only NVidia and ATI. I have two ATI cards in this box, a 4850 and a 5870. Catalyst 9.12, Windows 7 64 Bit. All the client would do is download CPU WUs... something is still not right server side. I have BOINC 6.10.25 loaded. Went back to the optomized app.

So this morning when I sit down to mess with my system, I look, and my 5870 is happily chugging along at the proper speeds, and my MW RAC is on the mend. No matter how much tech knowledge one can attain, computers will never fully be understood, I don't think. They really do seem to have minds of their own. Thanks for all the help and suggesstions guys, merry christmas!

I'll try some third party tools, I just hadn't had time yet, and had not had this problem til very recently. I noticed my MW RAc was dropping like a rock, and lo and behold... at 99% usage the card was WAY underclocked. I know the dangers of overclocking, I just tried to in the CCC to try and get the card to kick up and go, but alas, it did nothing. Sadly I have to be off to work again, but will mess with it more over the holiday weekend, and more suggestions are greatly appreciated(not to downplay yours, for which I thank you).

Hello all, i know a lot of you qre quite ATi tech savvy, so I though thtis to be the best place to ask. My 5870 has out of nowhere decided to underclock itself and will nto have me telling it otherwise. I tried setting it to overclocked speeds, and no go. I'm running Catalyst 9.12 under 64 bit Windows 7. Thank you for your thoughts. :)

Collatz is pretty much a one person endeavor and Slicker noted he was going to be away on vacation -- with only periodic remote access to reset things as necessary. So to the extent that Collatz is running during the next week, that will be something of a gift.

Collatz seems to be up again

Yup, its down again, and even with the huge cache of WUs I had my 5870 has run dry. My 4850 still has a lot, and I think big brother is jealous, lol. Hopefully Slicker will be able to remotely kick the validator soonish, as its been down since I woke up this morning. Ah, i can't wait til more projects get decent ATI apps out. SETI doesn't count, that app is a bloody joke.

Those that are using ATI GPU's do have ONE current alternative. I'd love there to be more.

Yes, wouldn't we all. But how many alternatives were there when I invested in ATI cards in the early days, not so far back at the beginning of this year?

NONE. ZILCH.

No other projects. Just MilkyWay and no promise at all that there would be any other ATI projects.

It's lucky that we have Collatz, and unlucky that I can't hammer MW right now ;)

GPU Grid is possibly weeks away from ATI WUs now as well. But its looking as if they may only accept 5000 series cards. They've begun tests but only had a 4850 to test with and decided with OpenCL having to create virtual memory they were just too slow. They expect to receive a 5870 this week to begin testing.

Distributed.net also has a beta ATI client that seems to work pretty well. Unlike F@H it works on ATI HD5xxx cards with no stupid workarounds that yield less than stellar results. :P Off to Collatz with me tho til this gets sorted then I'll be back full force. :) Gotta keep the FLOPS up so I can make the top 100 list when it gets updated. :D
