I have a ATI 2600 XT that was replaced by a gtx 260......

i've just had to re-load windows on my moms work computer and wondering if i should leave the 2600 xt card in their since Milky-GPU is coming on and it can use it i believe correct?

for the past 2 months, the card has been sitting in a psu box....

can we all just shut up and let the stuff crunch for science!!!!! pick a project or a dozen if that makes you feel happy that you are contributing. just let whatever you have (cpu only, cpu + ATI, CPU + Nvidia) CRUNCH!

thats b/c your computer hasn't done any work... yet on gpu side.

It should still display my computer, when it joimed and it's specs, work done does not come into it.

your computer has yet to communicate to the project like mine.

mine shows no account under the gpu milky, or anything else. stop worry about it when it doesn't really matter right now. seti@home can tell you the same thing.

one question it may have already been answered.

Are the forums for gpu going to be added to the main cpu side so that their all on 1 web server???

keeping it all together "forums" seem like a good idea. would create less traffic on GPU side.

actually, we may see if the future, a sort of co-processor like our cuda does. .23 cpu cuda device doing most of the work. i see a intel (I20) sitting right next to a(an) AMD-Nividia Chipset, are motherboards will be more like a the gpu and cpu sitting on the board and lots of ram modules.

who knows. just think if we were to start shrinking the gpu size and interface to use pci-e 1x. and 1-tenth the of a gtx 260 or ati 2x card. think of size the power and expandability of gpu.

also, gpu's with cpu cores.... who the hell knows whats around the corner.

i mean just think, diamonds replacing silcon = to 0 heat as blue diamond can transfer electrical current but doesn't generate(produce) heat.

look it up. Nat. geo.

yea, i have a 2600 xt setting around... maybe when new computer comes i'll crunch it. New dell or custom build haven't made mind up... the only problem, i don't need another monitor yet dell has no monitor option on most of its pcs. this also gives my pc more time to get these 200+ seti mb done.

thats the generic page setup from boinc page generator. a little ways to go but by the end of next week(or sooner) it should be going.... just depends on how easy or hard some of the stuff(coding, etc) likes to fight people. and people say machines don't have minds.. but they do.

I talk nice to my baby's and they treat me nice as long as i listen to them... pc's are like women... they just don't talk IRL.

Could single precision cards emulating double precision be used for the normal project? Since they're so much slower, they shouldn't put too much load on the server, and they might be on par with CPUs. I think there's a lot of people out there who'd like to use their single precision cards..

yea, that would be cool. i have a ati card sitting (9250) that's taking space on a shelf.

least my 260 has work, tons of it. about 200 seti mb waiting, and 1 gpugrid going right now, it's almost done and those seti's get knocked out in 20 minutes. i guess the seti server loves my turn around time. it loaded my pc up. my bonic list is as long as my arm, a quad-core running cpdn, docking, roseeta, and others right now.

b/c seti and gpu don't support ati cards. if and when they go open source, i may buy one to replace my 2600 xt thats laying around. oh, yea another reason, for some reason, my vista hates catalyst. everytime i update it, it will never open correctly.
