1) Message boards : Number crunching : Down for maintenance? (Message 37622)

Post:
I noticed it when I started backing up completed work units a few hours ago, but as there have been "one or two" problems of late I guessed someone somewhere would be looking at it.

Is there another feeder issue as I seem to be getting only one WU every two to three hours? No where near enough to keep my quad fed.

Tried 6.10.3, the GPU scheduling was much better but the CPU scheduler refused to download anything with a short timescale ("won't finish in time" message). Ended up with all four CPU cores idle unless I downloaded Climate Prediction.

At one point it was running 8 tasks (I have a quad with 2 GPU), it was running 4 at normal CPU, 2 GPU and 2 CPU High Priority. That just has to be wrong!

Gave up and reverted to 6.6.31

Seti is out of work, issues with the data feed from Aricebo. May be Tuesday before they get it sorted.

It may help a little if we knew the version of Boinc you are using, possibly also the OS you are running (32/64 bit), these may help as a pointer to something.

Sorry my last post vanished!

I had this when I updated Boinc, I backed out to 6.6.31 and have no further problems with this message.

If you don't have a copy then try this link, you should find the version you need whatever your OS!

I have tried 6.6.36 and 6.10.0 (and .1) couldn't geyt any of them to download any MW (won't finish on time) [rubbish] . I'm currently running 6.6.31 as it seems to be the latest version where the scheduler has any idea about what it is doing.

Well done on the prompt recovery, as a DBA I know the feeling when a database goes belly up.

I have a valid workunit that finished ok, but has been granted ZERO credit.

Can anyone shed any light as to why this should be?

I'm about to drop MW, the WU shortage is becoming rather silly, only 3 WU's (in one go) in almost 3 weeks.

How odd when I quote the text is there, but all I see is "I" when I read the message! Dropping out of MW for a few months until it gets it's WU act together.
