This is fantastic news. THANK YOU very much to everyone involved in making this dream into reality.

I volunteer to help any testing that is needed. Have AMD and Intel boxen. Can use; 8400, 9500GT, 9800GTX, 260, and/or C1060. Also have access to an ATI card.

Best of luck for moving project forward. Aloha! -Brandon

^^^Nice! a 1200 watt space heater..
Think I will move to Iceland and use one in each room to heat the house.. *sly grin*

P.S. Depending on components...They were going for 6-14k last year. Not sure new pricepoint since Tesla has come down so much. lol, mines didn't cost quite that much..

Besides, unless he changes his mind Dr. Anderson is against mixing GPU capabilities so having a mix of cards is also going to be an issue ...

What means this? Is it not OK to have say a 260+9800GTX in same rig with <use_all_gpu> flag enabled??

Oh, one last point, unless you have that as a single rig it will also suck the power plant right out of your socket ...

IMO..
WUs should be separate. But not the credits. Just make the apps two different applications and folks can decide which they want to run. Why should they be different if it is the same project.
With PS3grid, they split the website in two ps3/gpu, but the credits are still the same.

If the WUs were say 4x would that make a marked difference? You could still keep the deadline and everyone should be able to meet it with the small cache settings?

Could the ATI and CPU apps process different work units? Then make the GPU ones like 10x longer and everyone is happy...well mostly anyway ;)

Well, only a month ago I had a combined rac from conservative farm of ~10,000...
I buy a vid card pop it in my oldest host (Pentium D) and today it breaks 30,000rac for a single host. That is pretty cool, I must say.
Here she is:

I have actually switched off all rigs except the Nvida and Ati crunchers. Much easier on the electric with only 2 rigs. I don't mean the electricity they use directly but the major cost was in running the AC to try to keep it only near 80f in here. Envy those folks who can put puters in their cold garage. But can't take the cold myself so not moving anytime soon.
