Thanks for that Space.com link. Very interesting ! I still say that, if they can produce the microfilm and, we get the German’s to create a clone of Wernher von Braun. Remember ‘The Boy’s from Brazil ? We will be able to recreate the mighty Saturn V ! Regards, Bill |

Posted 13 Aug 2009 by Bill592 Post: I dont know what exactly NVIDIA did, to get into boinc before facebook ....... It’s quite simple. They placed rather large amounts of cash into certain people’s pockets. This is a tried and true method to ‘win friends’ and influence things into the direction you would like them to go. Just ask any member of the United States ( Bought and paid for ) congress. They will attest to the fact that this method works ! IE: Rep. Jefferson with 10K in his freezer.
I’d say, go for it. We’ll see if it works. I thought Crunch3R was working on it. Bill |

Posted 23 Jul 2009 by Bill592 Post: Never mind__ I think I found out why. __Normally I have a Weather Radar program running called Storm Predator. __When I loaded it back up__ it climbed back up 5 degrees. I didn’t realize that weather radar program needed that much of the GPU.__ I think I’ll leave it off. Bill |

Posted 23 Jul 2009 by Bill592 Post: Howdy all, Something odd here __ with this latest batch of work units, my 4850 GPU is running about 5 degrees Celsius “ Cooler “ than normal. Also, CPU usage seems to be lower. Are these work units less computationally intensive ? Anyone else notice this ? __ or, do I have something going haywire with my system? found a small memory error in the code

Posted 6 Jul 2009 by Bill592 Post: Using a CPU is largely energy waste compared to a GPU so I stopped looking to the CPU application. Hi CP, That is something I have been wondering about. I wonder if that energy waste is occurring (or reversed) on other projects plus Milky Way when running Cuda. Over on Einstein @ Home they have only managed to attain a 1.5 x ( geforce ) to 3.5 x ( Tesla ) speedup compared to the CPU app. when testing their beta Cuda app. Some Nvidia cards burn up a lot of power so, for that minor speed advantage, you may end up wasting power running Cuda. Best Regards, Bill |

Posted 5 Jun 2009 by Bill592 Post: Gipsel got it fixed with version 0.19f THANK YOU ! Cluster Physik, you are doing a Great job with the ATI Apps ! I wish my other projects like Einstein would implement ATI instead of this focus on Cuda only nonsense. Bill |
