Thanks for the info, borandi. I'll give it a look later today. However, as my original query regarded rejected results within their deadlines, I will wait before installing an optimised application that just runs quicker but doesn't promise to solve my initial problem. I'll keep waiting in case somebody has an answer to that. Many thanks!

Maybe the result was passed the deadline, was sent out to someone else who completed it immediately, then the insta-purge kicked in and deleted it.

Nope, results are always completed in time. If time is drawing to an end, they're aborted beforehand. I always check deadlines and messages, and behave accordingly. This is why I don't get this.

As for the "optimised CPU app", I'm not sure what it is. I googled around for a while, but didn't find much. It may be worth mentioning, perhaps, that I'm running BOINC v. 6.6.29 on Ubuntu Jaunty.

Hi everybody! Yesterday, among BOINC messages, I found this:

Sat 04 Jul 2009 07:52:40 PM CEST Milkyway@home Message from server: Completed result ps_sgr_214F5_3s_hiw_9257786_1246460479_0 refused: this result wasn't sent (not needed)

This happened several times already, so, since it takes some time (+ CPU, RAM, etc.) to complete a task, I would like to know what causes this problem, and how to fix it, so that, in case it can't, I can detach from this project and let other tasks run in its place. Many thanks in advance!

I'm not sure of the answer myself. But this would get more notice in one of the Message Boards than here I believe.

Me too. Unfortunately, when I tried to start a new thread there, I chose Cafe MilkyWay, and the system response was:
In order to create a new thread in Cafe MilkyWay you must have a certain amount of credit. This is to prevent and protect against abuse of the system.

I gave for granted this was the only place where beginners could ask their questions. However, I'll try all of the topics. Maybe I'll have more luck. Thanks anyway!
