Actually I'm using official 5.10.21 on this computer and I'm quite happy with better benchmarks than 5.8.x :) I'm considering upgrade, but as for now it's not possible. Anyway I'll use my laptop to crunch for this project (as soon as it will be back)

The new application (1.12) is still linked against 2.4 (result 568490, ldd confirms). I'm pointing this out, because you wrote in the news that something has been done about it. Maybe you could try static linking? Other projects seems to go that way.

Anyway, this project is very interesting, and as soon as my laptop (with Windows) returns from repairs I'll attach it here.

I'm a linux noobie and I've got Ubuntu 6.06 installed (not running as a live CD) as a Virtual Machine on a Windows XP host. This will happily run LHC, Cosmology and Pirates (on the rare occasion they're available) but all the Milkyway wus I have downloaded have errored out as soon as the wus start. I guess I'm missing some libraries, but which, where can I get them, and how would I go about installing them? Please be gentle with me.

Hi. Seems we've got the same problem. According to this link: http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/base/libc6 your Ubuntu has glibc 2.3.6, but science app is linked against 2.4. As far as I know you can't get (at least easily) this version of library without upgrading to newer Ubuntu.

I'm using Mandriva 2006 which also has glibc 2.3.x so I started a thread about this problem here: "GLIBC version".

Hi.

I'm using Mandriva 2006, which has GLIBC version 2.3, but application for this project is linked against version 2.4, resulting in "compute errors" (for example:
Result 247167)

I know my distribution is quite old, but many other projects (and BOINC obviously ;) run here without problem.

Would it be possible to support such old systems, or at least warn users about minimum required version of GLIBC?
