I have a few more candidates that have 2 error while computing and 2 can't validate each.

These are from de_separation_15_3s_stndrd_1.

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=262224410

This one is from ps_separation_22_3s_edge0_2.

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/workunit.php?wuid=262427317

I have other tasks from these and other groups with 2 errors while computing and 1 can't validate.

Hope this helps you in tracking the cause.

Update of the previous message which should have started, On my system the number of errors has gone down but the number of invalids has gone up. The 2 wu's in the previous message each has 2 error while computing and 2 can't validates.

On my system the number of errors has gone done but the number of invalids has gone up. I think the two wu's below might be good candidates for locating the cause of the errors.

I also have two that completed but can't validate.

Yes, that's exactly the same thing, there are too many not properly working computers for the current max errors setting.

Looks like they are probably bad in any case, see the following wu.

Travis,

I believe something needs to be done soon about the current number of errored tasks. I am pretty sure my machine has crunched several hundreds of these by now as the number in my task list has gone from as low as 37 to over 100 several times over the last week or so. I now have over 120 errored tasks showing and have gone from being allowed 75 tasks, to 58 and now 32 at a time. At this rate in a couple of days I will not be able to get any tasks to run. Can the the tasks that have failed on 4 systems be removed quicker to allow us to receive more tasks to run? Is there a plan to deal with this or these jobs going to continue as is until they are completed?

Thanks,
Gary

I don't believe that really applies here, if you run more than 1 project Milkyway will soon have no tasks to run. This happens for two reasons, the Milkway limits on the number of tasks a computer is allowed at a time, I get 75 max. and the schedular filling all remaining time with tasks from other projects when Milkway has none available. Other projects attempt to fill the x Days and Y Extra settings but not Milkyway, happens to me regularly and causes a lot of manual intervention where it should'nt be required.
31) Message boards : Number crunching : Can the WU cache be increased (Message 55519)
Posted 8 Sep 2012 by GaryG

Yes, from your account page select Computing preferences and then at the bottom of the page in the Network usage section you will see the following prompts.

Maintain enough tasks to keep busy for at least
(max 10 days).

1 days

... and up to an additional

0.01 days

The first one is obvious and the second controls how often checks are made to refill the cache. The smaller the number the more often the check. In your case you may want to set it to one or larger. I use the settings above as there is always a network connection.
