ATI application updated to 0.60
(Message 47828)
Posted 14 Apr 2011 by Bryan Post: Matt, I have 2 machines running 5970s using CAT 10.10. I have another machine running 2 5870s also under CAT 10.10. None of these 3 machines are having any trouble at all. OS Win7 64 I am getting this message:Since there are driver issues and I don't know what version works, I'm working on setting it to require 11.3 (unless somebody has it reported working with something earlier). However it appears I've done it wrong and it's just not sending. |

Posted 10 Apr 2011 by Bryan Post: On a 3G Intel quad I'm seeing high CPU loading. While running AQUA my GPU load was only 50%. Turning off the CPU crunching jumped GPU loading to 97% on both GPUs of a 5970. Completion times are much slower than .23 and there is no comparison on CPU loading. A single 5870 on my I7 (also running AQUA) gets 95% loading while the CPU crunches but here again the completion time is considerably longer than .23. I consider the CPU loading unacceptable if this is the way it is going to be in the long term. |

Posted 12 Jan 2011 by Bryan Post: i wonder how many people will stick to this project. At least the Prime Grid did a wonderful job implementing it into their application. Some did bail quite a while ago. I only run MW now when DNETC is down which is the opposite of what I would prefer. Shame, MW doesn't even support the automatic backup capability of BOINC. This used to be one of the premier projects for reliability but things have changed. Very unfortunate! |

Posted 17 Oct 2009 by Bryan Post: The 5870's run okay under Win XP64 over at Collatz, I'm running 2 of them there. But the Milkyway's won't run for me either on my 5870's, I'm running the 0.20 exe & don't really know if that's the one to be running as I haven't been paying much attention to this project lately. Maybe an upgrade on the exe would help ??? My Cards didn't Freeze but all the Wu's just erred out immediatly ... Same thing for me, 2 cards running fine on Collatz and hang up here. I may actually have to upgrade to Win 7 .... damn :( |

Posted 12 Sep 2009 by Bryan Post: There were no server side issues deploying the 32 bit Windows application therefore the 64 bit Windows application has also been deployed. I should be ready to go, detached and reattached. There are no files in the Milkyway project folder and it keeps giving me the error message I have no Cuda card. 6.10.4 did detect my ATI 4850 I have CPU turned off in preferences and GPU turned on. |

(Message 29918)
Posted 29 Aug 2009 by Bryan Post: The 1st night I ran 6.10.1 w/ AQUA / MW the GPU went dry for 6 hours and didn't do any work. I reinstalled yesterday and things are more or less working. For quite a while (while I had AQUA work) it would download a new wu when it finished 1. Since last night when I started running Collatz it has been doing what someone else reported. It runs MW dry, waits 3 mintues, and then download 48 units. Even with a 5% hit on MW throughput I would be willing to use it because I've never been able to play w/ the CPU running 100% and the GPU running 99% loading and not have to babysit the system! The problem does appear to be the STD. It goes up to 30,000 over the 48 units, resets to zero, and then it will download new units. BTW, thank you Crunch3r!!!! |

Posted 28 Aug 2009 by Bryan Post: I've sent an email to the boinc_projects mailing list about the issue of not receiving CPU work, referenced in the thread Ice posted earlier. The response that I received is as follows In my case it was the opposite, I had CPU work but it wouldn't request new work for the empty GPU. The system had worked excellently for over 3 hours filling the MW GPU cache continuously. 3 hours later (after installation) it quit requesting GPU work and I couldn't manually force it. |
