New Milkyway Badges Online
(Message 71573)
Posted 2 Jan 2022 by ![]() Post: It might need you to post in order to update, or something weird like that. Everything should be good up to 100B credit and 20 years of volunteering! Tom is there a way to export the official badges to the Admin of the signature site below ? https://signature.statseb.fr/ They are not going past 10 years Thanks Bill F |

Planned Deprecation of TLS 1.0/1.1
(Message 71478)
Posted 12 Dec 2021 by ![]() Post: Taking a quick count of systems using BOINC versions older than 7.2.10 gives a count of about 79 systems. This is using statistics from the project. URL source https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/host_stats.php?boinc_version=1 Considering that the Server stat's page shows 27,300 systems with recent credit 79 would be a very small number. Planned Deprecation of TLS 1.0/1.1
(Message 71470)
Posted 11 Dec 2021 by ![]() Post: No version 7.2.10 is advertised at Boinc at all. Yes for Windows 32 Bit the current version is 7.14.2 and it was released back in October of 2018. Version 7.2.10 is much older and would not be advertised anymore as it was released in August of 2013. The intent it to get any "real" old users and systems to update to something newer before they change the system later this month, You are fine. Bill F |

(Message 71460)
Posted 10 Dec 2021 by ![]() Post: Tom is probably pointing to the fact that everyone should be running version 7.2.10 or newer. There are a number of versions for different types of hardware and software that are not Windows 64 bit 7.16.20 compliant. A full list of versions based on Hardware and OS is at the following location. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php Thanks Bill F |

Separation Validator Updates/Brief Server Outage(s)
(Message 71024)
Posted 24 Jul 2021 by ![]() Post: Cavalary you are running a fairly old version of BOINC 7.6.22 it was released in Dec of 2015. Maybe you could consider upgrading to 7.14.2 (32 bit) or higher if you have a 64 bit system. Also has your PC or mother board manufacturer released any updates for your hardware that might help you ? There were also library version updates in 7.6.33 and 7.8.2 and a few bug fixes between then and now. Bill F |

Separation Validator Updates/Brief Server Outage(s)
(Message 71009)
Posted 23 Jul 2021 by ![]() Post: The validate errors will account for some of your 40% reduction in RAC but there is also a disparity in the old unit resulting in 227 points and the new at 230 which considering the work unit takes longer than the 3 point extra awarded there is a defecit on every work unit. This has resulted in a shortfall of about 250K per day in my situation without the failed units. Cavalary you are running a fairly old version of BOINC 7.6.22 it was released in Dec of 2015. Long running Tasks
(Message 70171)
Posted 17 Nov 2020 by ![]() Post: I am having a problem with long running tasks on a Dell Laptop Win 10 that has been pretty reliable. It is not pulling any errors that I am aware of on multiple projects. Intermittently it will run long with times climbing instead of falling on a Milkyway task. It runs them as 6 cpu jobs. Yes they have been n-body cpu tasks. What is odd the same system can complete the same type successfully for credit and also complete them but "have an inconclusive status". Just seems strange I have over 10 years and over 5 million credits and have never seen anything like it before. Thanks for your reply. |
