Finally, didn't want to report this as no one else had but I too am having major problems with uploads and downloads for the last 3-4 days. Not so much of a problem on the dual cores but the Q9550 spends more time idle on milky's trying to upload and download work than it actually spends crunching. tutta what sort of net connection are you on, mine is a satellite broadband connection, was wondering if maybe the latency is a problem for some reason. Anyhow would be nice if things would get back to normal, 9550 was up to #5 host on RAC but is slowly going backwards :(

had the same for the last 30-40 min, but the last few updates haven't had any. They seem to be coming in waves, about an hour before I will have to stop monitoring my rigs, not sure im going to let MW run unattended, if I don't get anymore in the next hour I may risk it :)
I'm sure I will regret this decision :)

They are slowly getting rid of the bad W/U's with less and less coming through, I seem to be having a minor problem with validation (as in it ain't happening) getting quite a list of pending, but this may be due to them trying to weed out the bad w/u's???

the new w/u's with task names starting with gs_373082 etc will not run on my up to date Ubuntu Hardy box. They just sit at 0% and don't move?? Working on all other boxes with Hardy that hasn't been updated. Anyone else have this problem??

Don't know about anyone else but I'm seeing a couple 2.17s creeping into my granted credits here and there lately. Has anyone else seen this?

It will be work units that didn't make the deadline(for one reason or other) being resent, shouldn't last for long

There is an easy way to update your boinc client in Linux, it won't be as intergrated as the synaptic one but will work all the same. At the boinc site select all versions and then select the version you want to use,5.10.45 is the latest linux one. Download the client to your home directory, D/L should be a shell script. Now open a terminal and cd into your home directory. eg
cd /home/"homedirname" (don't used the quote marks)
now just run the boinc shell script eg for 5.10.45 it is as follows
sh boinc_ubuntu_5.10.45_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh
NOTE that this is for the 64bit version so make sure you get the name right for your version if different. This command will create a directory in your home folder called BOINC. Now come the not intergrated bit. To run your new client(and it will be a new client not an update to the one installed already) open a new terminal. In your new BOINC directory there will be a file called "run_manager" which is a plain text file. drag that file into your open terminal and press return Boinc and Boinc manager should start up. Remember you MUST leave this terminal open while boinc is running so just minimise the terminal window don't close it. If for some reason draging the file into the terminal doesn't work the actual command to run it is
cd "/home/yourhomedir/BOINC" && exec ./boincmgr $@
type this in your terminal WITH the quotes and with the actual name of yourhomedir

hello
I have a problem. I have installed linux Kubuntu 8.04 instead od WIN XP and I am observing a strange phenomenon.
WIN time of 1 WU> 732sec > http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=9512
LINUX time 1 WU> 1886 sec http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=10622
could somebody explain this to me?
thanks in advance

Looks to me as though your cpu is being throttled in Linux, have a look at the difference in boinc benchmarks. In kubuntu if you have kpowersave installed just left click on the icon in your sys tray/task bar thing and it will show you what Mhz the cpu is running at. Then right click the icon and configure kpowersave to run the cpu in performance mode. This should run it at 100%. The kpowersave icon will either be a battery or powerplug type thing
