I'm another one who had to disable n-body simulations. It reached 100% but continued on endlessly.

The BOINC website says 7.0.28 is the latest stable version.

I've seen this before with other projects and it always baffles me.

I'm out of tasks and have been for hours, yet even with a manual update, BOINC won't request new tasks:

4/12/2013 9:25:12 AM | Milkyway@Home | update requested by user
4/12/2013 9:25:17 AM | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
4/12/2013 9:25:17 AM | Milkyway@Home | Not reporting or requesting tasks
4/12/2013 9:25:19 AM | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed

Thanks to all who tried to help. Maybe someday someone can post the app_info.xml to allow N-Body to work when also using a GPU. It's too confusing for me to figure out.

Richard, I'm not rolling my own. I wouldn't even know how. I'm just running Milkyway@home and it's giving me that notice message.

You say I need to be running version 1.08. Version 1.08 of what and how do I get that version?

I would think that an FAQ would go a long way to help people here.

No, I don't have a convincing case, but it worked last night.

Is there a FAQ somewhere which explains these things?

I'm getting the following notice:

"Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a useable version of MilkyWay@Home N-Body Simulation"

Can someone please provide me with the proper lines to add?

Thank you Gary. I was able to modify it for Nvidia and that solves my problem!

Question. How would anyone find this out without help?

Let me try this another way.

The below app_info.xml file will allow 4 instances of a cuda file to run.

It will not allow CPU tasks to be fetched or run.

If I delete this file, CPU tasks will download and run fine and a single instance of a cuda file will download and run file.

Can anyone tell me how to get this to run both multiple CPU tasks and multiple Cuda tasks?

Could someone please provide me with an example app_info.xml file that will allow me to run both standard CPU tasks as well as multiple cuda tasks on an Nvidia board?

With no app_info.xml I get cpu tasks but only 1 cuda task. When I add a app_info.xml file such as I've seen here, I can run multiple cuda tasks but no cpu tasks. How can I run multiple instances of both?

Thanks,

Nick

I have an Nvidia GTX650 Ti and it's running a GPU task just fine. Is it possible to run multiple instances of MilkyWay@Home 1.2 (Opend_nvidia) like I can on Seti?

Please see this thread for information and possible solutions, but let's keep the discussion here.

Thanks.

Do the BOINC people concur that this is a bug and plan to fix it soon?

Who actually assigns the high priority designation? Is it BOINC or does the application itself do it?

Same thing here. No WUs since installing 7.0.25

I wonder if my problem is related. I have a Quadcore system and I am running SETI@Home, Cosmology@Home and Milkyway@Home. SETI@Home uses only the GPU with both Cosmology@Home and Milkyway@Home set to only use the CPUs. Seti@Home is set to use 50% of the resources and the other two set to use 25% of the resources, yet Milkyway@Home will not run unless I suspend Cosmology@Home. Any one have any idea what's wrong?
