Has anyone else has come across workunits similar to this: Result

I've had a couple across all my machines where the "Claimed Credit" was higher than the "Granted Credit"

So, my BOINC is asking zero seconds of work and not getting it either as there's no work from project. :-)

Are you running any other Boinc projects?

If you say so, I'm not getting any new work anyway.
I just get a "11/29/2007 4:28:10 PM|Milkyway@home|Deferring communication 1 hr 0 min 0 sec, because project is down"

I suppose I have my self to blame for joining a Alpha project.

Not only did I loose almost all my credits after his little "Stats revision" (two third or three forth at least) )

Fair or not (I think not ... )

I have made as much CS in Cosmology@home in 2 days than I have here now,
one week worth of crunching ...

I think I leave the project until it has stabilized some and is at least believable Beta and not Alpha !

You think you should keep the extra credits awarded by your customised boinc client, as you said yourself,Clicky you get getting 4 - 8 c/wu is at least 4x what the latest boinc client was correctly awarding?

What a dull world it would be, if we all thought the same way.

We are here, closely watching a new project to catch any glitches that happen so that we may report them and thereby make the world a better place. This is totally unlike an established project with a long, predictable record. We do NOT know what to expect here, except that stuff will happen.

So stuff goes wrong. We report it. We wait. And we wait. And we get nervous, thinking that maybe nobody on the other end is listening.

Now, if Travis is the only person working on this project and he can only pay attention to it every other day, between midnight and two, then he should say so. Properly adjust people's expectations and you avoid misunderstandings. So far, on this project, we have little to go on. It crashed last week (don't ask me to remember times and dates, it crashed) and we heard nothing until Monday. Then we didn't get notified; stuff just started working. Then it went down again. And again, no notices until I started this thread.

I don't feel that I have insulted anyone. If I did, I apologize, but someone may need to grow some thicker skin. Admining a project like this is no place for weak sisters. Travis has done a fair job, but could do better, in my humble opinion. I have been on his side of the fence and I know how a very little effort to keep people up to speed goes a really long way!

I think you are a little misinformed regarding this project. It's still in Alpha and as such we can expect lots of issues and expecting to be informed of every little detail is asking a bit much but in saying that, if you had taken the time to read the news on the homepage you'd have noticed that it's been updated several times over the last few days and considering it was a holiday weekend the information we received was far more than could have been expected, not to mention the posts Travis answered to as noted in a previous post.

I also think Travis has/is doing alot better job on keeping us up to date, Than alot of other projects have/are.

Good Job thus far !

I totally agree :)

Keep up the good work Travis.

The way credit is determined has to be looked at. In it's present format, older machines seem to be awarded more credit per WU than more powerful systems
I've done an approximation of 2 of my machines with the following results

1, AMD 3500+
In a 24 hour period it can crunch 216 MW WU's, being awarded 296 credit, in the same period it can crunch 6 Seti@Home WU's being awarded 320 - 450.

2, AMD 1500+
In a 24 hour period it can crunch 119 MW Wu's being awarded 199 credit in the same time it crunches 1.25 Seti@Home WU's being awarded 62 - 100.

Surely the newer, more powerful machines should earn more credit.

This seems to be the case, earlier i had several computation errors but got a batch of new work units in the last 30 minutes or so and these are crunching away without any errors.
