It doesn't seem to be much difference between 64-32bits now, took the trouble installing a 64 bit system and it's maybe only a minute faster on a Q6600.

Got about 70 WUs, really quick: 00:11 instead of 04:53.
Seem to work fine but stderr out complains a bit:

Not with nm_test25 or nm_test26 though, they seem fine.

Got a gs_3730382 completed and it took 2h 38min, the gs_3720282 used 5h.
Both fine with me.

Why not make the WUs at least 10 times bigger?
With this heavy traffic on the server something has to break.

oh,my best box Q6600 at 3.4gig is only doing 305s :(
Q6600 at 3.2gig is 325s
X2 at 2.8gig is 320s :)

All with Linux.

Seems like Linux is really fast on this project and AMD doesn't seem to be any slower than Intel Core2

My AMD X2 is doing the long units in 08:40
and the shorter ones in 03:25

About 1900 points per day :)

5.10.21 works for me, but sometimes it starts more applications than processor cores available.

I lost 3 days of work in Cosmology with 5.10.21 when the server went down and it couldn't back off enough but trashed the results.

Seems like the download link points to the new 5.10.28 with only cli.
The 5.10.21 have disappeared, nice, lost many results with that one :(
"5.8.16 Recommended version (standard GUI)" hmm..

A little funny behavior: when progress goes to 99% it jumps back to 0.001% but then quickly goes up again and finishes fine, no add on cpu time.

Nice :)
These new "ps" units seem to be rather fast.
Could you up the limit of 20 WUs a little bit?
My linux quad runs them faster than 20 minutes.

Ahhh.. reset the credits if there is no easy way ;)

I mean this in an Alpha project where to many seems to have gotten in just for showing off their abilities in manipulating the poor Boinc rewarding credit system and the credits wasn't fixed by the server.

35) Message boards : Number crunching : Per Host Limit (Message 542)

Post:

Short units running at about 6 mins per unit.
Quad core that could run 4 units at a time.
12 minutes to complete a cycle of units.

I don't know who set this, I don't think it is anything that I can control, but BOINC is set to contact the server 20 minutes after it realizes that host is at its 8 unit limit.

So its either run other projects or have your machine idle for 8 minutes.

Yup, it's even worse on Linux where WUs are smaller, one duallie here gets 7 min idle after every set of 8 units.
I think, but don't know, that the backoff scheme is set by the server on the project, on LHC it jumps to 15 min, Einstein have 1 min and this project seem to have 7 sec:
2007-11-23 16:33:48 [Milkyway@home] Deferring communication for 7 sec
2007-11-23 16:33:48 [Milkyway@home] Reason: requested by project
