Wow thanks for that 2 year old review. LMAO!

NVIDIA is the best![/quote]

That post was 1 year ago.

Off topic but, I couldn't post a new thread.

I have a question about: task duration correction factor which can be seen by me in a finished work unit when I select my computer ID.

I thought I read somewhere here that the # won't go below a (1) when I view mine they are sitting at 0.022553 how did this happen?

The n-body tasks were wwaaaayyy off on the estimated run time. I'm guessing they still are, but I haven't had any of those since the new server went up. I would have an estimate of 4-6 hours and they would run 30 min to 40+ hours.

4) Message boards : Number crunching : What are credits!!?? (This should be pinned, I think?) (Message 53460)

Thanks, folks.

It really doesn't matter to me if credit = credit across projects. I was curious about them having monetary or trade-in-type values ... as the word 'credit' would imply to my mind.

Since they are just some abstraction of how many units of work that are done, I won't worry about them. It just seems some people think it is some sort of race that confused me.

Some do turn it into a race like anything else. 1 million used to be the big leagues, you needed mass computers to hit that, now a gpu can turn over many thousands in a day.

If I rember right when it went down initially the database was corupted and hadn't been backed up in a couple days so a lot of work & credits were lost and could not be recovered. When the makeup days were scheduled the server was still in crappy mode and couldn't handle the double or triple load of requests for work. This isn't making up for the days/weeks the project goes down or that would be more like double credit months.

Yea, word got around the last time and crash the server again. I'm guessing it won't this time and we can see how much load it can handle ... Hopefully.

I haven't had any n-body tasks since the server change, only ps_ tasks.

Both n-body & MW are out of tasks. Can someone set the new server up to add new runs when the previous run is out? How it was setup before MW crashed some weeks ago. I'm guessing that when it was restored the process wasn't added back, so MW keeps running dry. MW ran good for a while until it crashed and now every couple days it runs out of work.

If it is running fine now then you don't need to worry the other tasks will get resent eventually.

I had just booted my computer up and started Boinc a few minutes before.

Anyhow I have tasks now. Took about 10 minutes.

Updated a few times and reset. Still get Http error. I'll give it a little before I detach/reattach. It also wouldn't upload the one completed wu I had, but when I checked under my account it was listed and credited, yet it remained in Boinc until I reset MW.
12) Message boards : Number crunching : Hi I'm back, but n-body tasks run for 6 seconds ? (Message 52159)

Yup, a week or two ago someone started new task runs that are short & less credits. Also almost a constant shortage of wus due to the validator clogging up.

Maybe when the new server is added someone will pay attention to these problems again.

Read any of the other topics/ posts on this. The server/ validator quit and no work is being generated. It likely will be a few more days untill the staff start back up after winter break. This almost always has happened during a holiday.

It's a constant cycle lately. No work for hours then work, then no work. It seems to be set up to not issue new searches untill the previous is finished. Also likely due to the miniscule n-body tasks that the server can't keep up with.

How can you lose points? Nothing in Boinc is penalized. No tasks show looking at your pc.

It seems to be constant problems and running out of work since the server went off the other week. Just make sure you have a backup project or two.

I bet much of this is due to many of the wus being very small. I had 30 second wus on my P4 Xp machine. This down from having 40-100+ hour tasks for much of the last 4+ weeks. I did get some longer tasks last night (6 hours).
