I have a similar System to your's. But I work with an app_info.xml
that turns of the checkpointing witch can be reponsible for the CPU load during the WU.
At the end of a WU the CPU has to do some work(aboout 5 - 10 seconds). This is done in a bulk, and doesn't care about the CPU settings for CPU-WU's.

I don't use Linux so I can't say much - but have you thought on user rights on the working DIR of BOinc?

I don't think that's a problem, I've created a separate user called "boinc" and everything runs in the home folder /home/boinc (which is owned by that user).

And this user has exec Rights (r-x) in this folder?

Post:
Until a couple of days ago I had not seen this 'bug' but now I've had quite a few wu's get stuck. They haven't timed out with maximum time limit exceeded. Since my previous post I've had 2 more wu's get stuck. I found one after 3hrs40min and another after 3hrs20min. There was no GPU activity, but 100% CPU activity. I suspended/unsuspended both and they both jumped back to just over 1 min elapsed time and completed OK on the CPU only about 5 seconds later. The both reported OK and received credit.

Other wu's are completing in the 'normal' amount of time.

I had this Problem too today and yesterday on my dual GPU machine.

But this has nothing to do with time limit exceeded bug

No problem Newberg and Blurf, I\we love you anyway. :)

We definitely love you Simplex0 ;) I'm MW user of the day. Do I get double credits?

Yes, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Sounds great, but I wasn't crunching here during the summer and won't feel comfortable about taking the credits I didn't earn.

You can make a small donation, then you can take the double Credit and feel comfortable ;-)

... If peopel tells you that you can't discuss, with in the BOINC community, questions that belongs both to the Milkyway & BOINC community they are wrong.

People have, and will always have, different point of view but banning people that want to debate the differences is just the wrong way to go.

One sees very well that the responsible are not politicians, and that's nice;-)
It sounds a little rascal in announcing the double credit days with a donation action
in the same breath, but once these projects are now living from donations. Do other projects too.

A politician would have said: "It is unfortunately only a day because Boinc(, or anybody else) is against it, but in tough negotiations.
I have a great deal enforced :...."

I have done a small (about 10 EURO) donation, I wanted to do anyway before, and when do the lot, then we have 20 double credit Days.

As far as I understand this happens at the time scale of tens of minutes. So if an optimized CPU is able to return a result within 3h now.. it might just be lucky and be the perfect fit, or it will very likely long be outdated.

If you are right the the existence of a spearation CPU application is ridiculous.
There must be a statement of the staff (Matt, Travis)

Wow, I can't believe you guys are still putting so much effort into optimizing the separation client for the CPU. Is there any point besides "but I want to run them, and so do others"?

I think there are many people which have no GPU for chrunching, and if somebody could increase the performance for them it's a good thing, and the people are happy. Every part is valuable even the smallest.
