My name is Paul, and live in Seattle, WA. I'm 45 years old, and work for a major Wireless Carrier as a Strategic Architecture Technology Manager with specific focus upon Multimedia Messaging Services.
I have lived in Washington state the majority of my life, with the exception of an 8 year period in the military - immediately after high school. I specialized in Aviation Electronics in the military, and after leaving the military went to work for Apple for two years working on computers and corporate networks. I was hired away from Apple by McCaw Cellular, which was then purchased by AT&T - that was almost 20 years ago. I have been working for AT&T for almost 20 years now (with the various iterations, merges, buy-outs, etc.).
I love computers, gaming, electronics, and technology in general. I'm a techno-geek at heart. I enjoy meeting all kinds of people from all walks of life. Having a good time is essential to quality of life. I tend to work too much, but also attempt to make up for it when I am not working.
Your opinions about MilkyWay@home
I enjoy running MilkyWay@Home; because I have a couple computers - and they don't always have a lot to do. =) And because, like most others doing it - know that the Universe is a VERY large place, and we would be ignorant to think we are the only ones of any intelligence in this VERY large place.
I think this project is very important to both science and the community. It may actually assist in "bridging the gap" between those that "Do Believe" and those that do not. It seems to be a slow process, and began quite some time ago; but, a very important one.Space and Science have always been fascinating to me. Although my profession is technology oriented, my dream was always in/around the stars.
